PESHAWAR: The provincial government to hold ‘Mega Challenge Youth Carnival’ at the Qayyum Sports Complex from March 16.
KP Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Mahmood Khan told reporters here on Thursday that the event was aimed at paving the way for people of other provinces specially students to visit the province.“It will remove apprehensions about the security situation in KP,” he added.
The minister said that department of sports and youth had contacted almost 153 universities across the country including Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata), Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan. “About 38 universities have confirmed their participation. The students of religious institutes were also asked to participate.”
He said that 26 different competitions were parts of the carnival including Qir’at, Na’at Khwani, English and Urdu declamation and essays, writing, quiz, painting, short filming, calligraphy, photography, music in Pashto, Hindko, Urdu and English, etc. Mahmood Khan said 12 guest houses and two hotels were booked for the participants.
