ISLAMABAD: Seven terrorists were executed in different jails of Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Karachi and Sukkur on Tuesday morning.
Zulfikar Ali, son of Abdul Hameed, was executed at the Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi. He was a resident of Naval Colony, Hub Road, Karachi, and was associated with Al-Qaeda. He was convicted for killing two policemen near the US Consulate General in Karachi. He was Karachi. He was convicted by Anti-terrorism Court in Karachi after being booked in 2003 in FIR no 35/03 registered in Karachi under Sections 353, 302, 324, 397 and 7-ATA.
Five members of his family held their last meeting on Monday. Extraordinary security measures were taken around the jail.
Two more terrorists involved in former president General (R) Pervez Musharraf assassination bid case were executed at District Jail Faisalabad.
Ex-employee of Pakistan Air Force Nawazish Ali, son of Muhammad Ali of Mohallah Jattala Tala Gang Chakwal and Mushtaq, son of Imran Ahmad of Phase-II S-block Faqeerabad Karachi were awarded death penalty for their involvement in assassination attack on General (R) Pervez Musharraf and were detained at Central Jail Faisalabad from where they were shifted to District Jail Faisalabad.
The wills of both condemned prisoners were recorded at District Jail Faisalabad.Superintendent District Jail Faisalabad Syed Babar Ali said that strict security measures were ensured at the jail, adding that heavy police contingent coupled with elite force and Rangers jawans remained on high alert inside and outside the jail.
Later, bodies of Nawazish and Mushtaq were handed over to their relatives for burial, he added.Three convicts: Shahid Hanif alias Mufti Shahid son of Qazi Muhammad Hanif, Muhammad Talha son of Ishrat Hussain and Khalil Ahmed alias Hassan Jan son of Nawabuddin were executed in Central Prisons in Sukkur.
Jail Superintendent Shahid Hussain Chhajro confirmed that the hangings took place amid tight security.All the three terrorists belonged to a banned outfit. According to the jail authorities, they were hanged at 6:30am.
They were convicted for assassinating Syed Zafar Ali Shah in 2003, who was at the time working as a senior official in the Defence Ministry.Also, Behram Khan, son of Lashkar Khan, the killer of a lawyer, was hanged at Karachi Central Jail in the presence of judicial magistrate.
Behram Khan, along with a police official SI Pir Bux, had killed a lawyer Advocate Ashraf in the courtroom of Sindh High Court in 2003 and they were arrested while trying to escape.Anti-terrorism Court in Karachi had sentenced Behram to death while SI Pir Bux was sentenced to life in prison for abetting the crime.
Behram Khan was hanged till death at Karachi Central Jail’s gallows on Tuesday morning in the presence of a judicial magistrate and later, his body was handed over to his family after legal formalities, who took it to Dadu for funeral and burial.
Superintendent Karachi Central Prison Shakir Shah confirmed that Behram Khan was hanged on Tuesday morning at the jail after his family and relatives met him for the last time on the previous day.
On the other hand, bodies of the three activists of Lashkar-e-Jhangvi who were executed at Sukkur Jail were brought to Karachi where their funeral prayers were offered and two of them were buried in local graveyards while body of one of them was sent to Haripur, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Muhammad Talha, Shahid Hanif alias Mufti Shahid and Khalil Ahmed alias Hasan Jan were condemned to death by an anti-terrorism court after they were found guilty of killing Syed Zafar Hussain Zaidi, director laboratories of MoD in Karachi in July 2001.
