Nawabshah not getting potable water
NAWABSHAH: Asia’s largest filter plant which was constructed at a cost of Rs1,500 million has failed to supply clean potable water to the people of Nawabshah while mixing of sewerage with the lines of potable water has made it harmful for human use.
The huge filter plant was installed at the main Rohri Canal and its inauguration was performed by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The chief engineer at the filter plant had briefed Provincial Minister Fayaz Ali on the matter.
Twenty million rupees a month are being spent on the maintenance of the plant.
The minister was informed by the media that due to decayed lines of water supply and sewerage lines, potable water was getting contaminated and causing some very serious diseases. The minister has assured the people that the decayed lines would be replaced soon.
