Zardari’s U-turn
Asif Zardari’s statement supporting the extension in service for Gen Raheel Sharif was a topic of hot discussion on different forums. According to some PPP leaders, the former president has disowned any such statement, whereas others say that he just supported the success of Operation Zarb-e-Azab by the armed forces under Gen Raheel’s stewardship. However, a resolution supporting the extension in tenure of the army chief moved by a PPP member reveals the truth.
Zardari has taken a U-turn to save his skin. Zardari, after failing to get any support for his harsh statement against the army, went abroad. If his hands are clean he should have no fear returning to the country. Reported revelations by Uzair Baloch are complicating matters for him. The state of poor governance in Sindh is known to all. The people of Sindh are disillusioned with the PPP and the Sindh card is no more effective. Our leaders should learn that the law of retribution takes over sooner or later.
