Guilty

This refers to the news report, ‘Ex-Lt Gen, corps commander accepts guilt, returns Rs200m to NAB’ (February 26). Lt General (r) Zahid Ali Akbar commanded the Rawalpindi Corps and remained Wapda chairman from 1987 to 1992. He accumulated huge wealth during his postings in various government departments and then fled the country. Now, at the age of 91, he has realised his guilt and deposited Rs200 million with NAB.

What a pity. This should be an eye-opener for all those who have indulged in corruption and evaded the accountability process. All of us, especially our leaders, should be scrupulously honest in all our deeds if we are to survive as a nation.
