Contractor, two engineers in NAB custody for 15 days

FAISALABAD: An accountability court on Wednesday granted 15-day physical remand of contractor Aziz Ahmad, PWD engineer Ejaz Ahmad and a retired sub-divisional officer (SDO), who were arrested on Tuesday by the NAB for incurring over Rs 800 million loss to the national exchequer in the construction of highways.
After getting remand, the NAB team shifted the accused to some unknown place for investigation.
It is learnt that the accused, during preliminary investigation by the NAB team, have pointed out names of some high officials, with whose connivance, they had committed corruption to the tune of billions of rupees in the construction of thoroughfares and roads in the Punjab. In support of their claims, the accused have reportedly provided proofs of the high officials’ involvement in the corruption. It is also learnt that some ‘big fish’ may very shortly be brought into the net in the light of the statements of the accused.
Polio claims two children’s lives

FAISALABAD: Two children suffering from polio have died during the last two days at Allied Hospital.
Saad (2) of Millat Town and Farah (4) of Sadhar, Jhang Road, were polio patients and admitted to the hospital for treatment.
