Triple murder convict hanged in Sahiwal jail

OKARA: A triple murder convict was hanged in the Sahiwal Central Jail on Tuesday.
Muhammad Ramzan alias Asif Ali had killed his mother, grandmother and sister-in-law over a property dispute at Kot Amir Ali Shah in 2004. An additional sessions judge had awarded him death sentence and Rs 50,000 fine in September 2005. Meanwhile, the body of Ramzan was handed over to his family for burial.
Seven booked for threatening NHA staffers

OKARA: Sadr police booked seven people, including three brothers, on the charges of threatening NHA staffers at Adda Kisan on GT Road, some 8km from here.
NHA Inspector Muhammad Rizwan and other officials came to the hotel of Arshad and asked him why he had not demolished encroachments despite receiving a notice. It infuriated Arshad and he with his brothers Akram and Mehboob and four hotel employees allegedly manhandled the NHA officials and threatened them of dire consequences. A case has been registered under sections 186, 148, 149 and 506-B of the PPC.
