World Thinking Day observed

FAISALABAD: The Pakistan Girl Guides Association organised a function to observe the World Thinking Day at the Government College Women University here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, Pakistan Girl Guides Association National Commissioner Senator Nuzhat Sadiq said that ‘connect’ was a theme of the World Thinking Day this year, which meant to connect with friendship and world. She said that the World Thinking Day was announced at the fourth girl guides/girl scouts international conference hosted by the Girl Scouts of the US at Camp Edith Machy in 1926. She said that the delegates choose February 22 as the World Thinking Day because it was the mutual birthday of Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the boys scout movement and his wife Lady Olave, who served as the world chief guide. She said that the guides should accept the challenges to promote love and serve the humanity for development of the country. She said that the girl guides should come forward to teach the illiterates for strengthening the social development. MNA Begum Khalida Mansoor, Government College Women University VC Dr Naureen Aziz Qureshi, Tahira Ahmad, Mrs Nadeem Zafar, Mrs Hanifa, Amna Ehsan and others also spoke on the occasion.

Later, the girl guides demonstrated different activities and items to show their commitment and passion. The students presented national songs, tableaus and skits, depicting the thinking about to explore and celebrate meaningful connections that make human lives better. A cake was also cut on the occasion.
