Power cuts protested in Mardan, Kohat

MARDAN: The residents of several villages staged protest in Bakhshali Bazaar against electricity loadshedding and over-billing here on Monday.

Led by a member of the Tehsil Council, Malik Ayaz, the protesters chanted slogans against the government and the Peshawar Electric Supply Company.

The protesters demanded transfer of the sub-divisional officer from the Bakhshali Sub-division. They said that the employees at the subdivision were not entertaining the complaints by the consumers.

The protesters said that the consumers were being sent inflated bills despite suffering hours-long power outages.  They also vowed to resist inclusion of their villages, including Bakhshali in the proposed Rustam tehsil.

Our correspondent in Kohat adds: The residents of various villages in Janglekhel area on Monday staged a protest against the prolonged power cuts.

Led by Usman, Fahim Khan and others, the protesters were carrying banners and placards. They chanted slogans against the government for carrying out prolonged loadshedding. The protesters said  18 hours long power loadshedding was being carried out was not only affecting the life of the business community but had also created water shortage in the area. They said the students had been hit hard as they were preparing for examinations.
