Five panels contesting PTI intra-party poll in Mardan

MARDAN: The preparation for intra-party election of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is going on in full swing in the district.

Sources said the PTI has been divided into five panels, adding, that the Insaf panel included those party workers who were ignored in the past. This panel is led by founding general secretary of PTI Abdus Salam, Hashim Khan and Syed Ilyas.

The worker panel is led by Jehan Zeb Afzal, Tiger panel is led by Adam Khan and Latif Khan while the Hoti panel is led by Mohammad Farooq Khan Hoti. The Parliamentarian Panel is led by lawmakers of PTI of Mardan district.

The sources added that leaders of all the panels had started making efforts to register a large number of members in the membership campaign. Currently, Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Iftikhar Ali Mashwani and Umar Farooq Khan are candidates for the district president office.

Iftikhar Ali belongs to business community. He joined the PTI and was elected MPA in the 2013 general election. He has remained district general secretary of PTI. Umar Farooq Khan is the son of former federal minister Khwaja Mohammad Khan Hoti.
