Having grown up with fantastical superheroes like Captain Marvel, Thor, Iron Man and many more than we could count, who would have thought that Pakistani Marvel fans would finally have some representation in the group. To celebrate the introduction of the first Pakistani Marvel superhero into the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), the series, Ms. Marvel is getting a special screening in cinemas across Pakistan through HKC Entertainment.
The new Disney series, introduces Iman Vellani, a Canadian actor of Pakistani origin, playing the lead role. The series celebrated globally for breaking stereotypes and opening doors for the South Asian community in the MCU as the lead characters, is directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Adil El Arbi, Bilal Fallah and Meera Menon.
Thanks to a blend of innovative visuals, impressive diversity and a refreshing approach to the origin story, Ms. Marvel is really standing out. It is an archetypal superhero origin story. The series follows Kamala Khan, a Pakistani-American superhero super-fan who spends her days fantasising about her icons. After inheriting a mysterious bangle, Kamala develops incredible powers of her own, including the ability to harness cosmic energy and project physical constructions made out of so-called ‘hard light’. The series charts both Kamala coming to terms with these abilities and navigating life as a high school student in Jersey City.
The versatile and diverse cast also includes; Nimra Bucha, Aramis Knight, Fawad Khan, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Farhan Akhtar, Mohan Kapur, Alyy Khan, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Samina Ahmad, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, and Mehwish Hayat. But it’s not just the actors; it also features Eva B’s song ‘Rozi’ in the first episode.
The series has already become the highest critically-rated Marvel series in history, and will be a treat to enjoy for children and adults alike to view it in a cinematic experience.
