beauty
It’s invigorating and inspiring to see the fashion scene return (almost) to normal, and there are once again plentiful and playful options to choose from. Especially with Eid just around the corner, we are excited to finally dress up like we did before masks were necessary and gatherings were scarce. While this Eid comes in full-swing, it also comes at a time of blazing heat in the country. It can get a little tricky to look cute and feel comfy with soaring temperatures, but we are determined to find and create the perfect festive look. If you are still confused about to wear this meethi Eid, we have got just the thing. This week You! brings you some gorgeous style inspo for the upcoming festivities…
While we would love to look like a summer model on a cover of a magazine, chances are many of us will be sweating out our seamless foundations. Unless you are going to be in a constant air-conditioned environment, the more products you put on your face, the more it is going to melt and spread. The good thing is that now the makeup trends are moving towards a complexion that’s healthy and hydrated without appearing too shiny, which is the best look for a sunny day. The trick is to limit shine-stopping efforts to the T-zone, like applying too much powder for example. It will help cheekbones keep a natural hint of dewiness, which plays off nicely against a dab of flat blush on the apples. If you do want to highlight, use just a light dab of it.
Opt for a tinted moisturiser or a CC cream if you are looking for some coverage, otherwise a powder foundation and sprits of facial mist will work great for you. Do your contour just enough to bring out your features, you won’t need the additional bronzer. Moreover, you can also use a lip & cheek tint if you want your blush to be a little more long-lasting. Finally, make sure to finish off with a good hydrating setting spray, it will do wonders for your makeup.
Since we are in the theme of keeping things light and natural, it will be a nice change to have more tawny pinks instead of nudes. The shade adds a hint of colour to your lips and looks very flattering on girls with a dusky complexion. You can complement that with some light smokey eyes where you use chocolate brown instead of black. Blend a taupe shade in your crease and a dark brown for your outer corner. For the lid, apply a cream-coloured shadow and finish off with a black liner and kohl on the waterline. This look will work for every outfit and you can tweak it a little by adding some shimmer.
If you are looking for something simple and easy, there are some classics you can opt for. The perfect summer ponytail is a no-effort look that suits all hair types. It is the ultimate hairstyle on a scorching hot summer day. Another style that looks effortless and chic is the twisted half up, half down hairstyle. You can then curl your hair loosely which will add a little more volume to your hair. However, if you are worried about your hair frizzing up, you can then opt for the classy up-dos which will look great as well. And if you’re feeling extra, make two small braids on each side and tie it up with your bun. Viola! Easy and classy in a jiffy.
Bold, brave brights are here to stay as we continue to embrace fantasy fashion and experiment with eclectic colours and unique prints more than ever before. Since we will be keeping the makeup towards the natural side, we can still make a statement with some colour in our outfits. We’re talking magenta, burnt orange, burgundy, red, royal blue, emerald green and berry tones. While these may sound like spring, we would need something cheery in the summer heat. If you are not into too bright hues, colourful pastels will do the same thing for you.
Similarly, floral prints are evergreen and versatile. You can wear them in any way and in any season, and they will always work. But make sure to stick to breathable material like cotton, jacquard and lawn. You could carry chiffon dupattas but silk may test your patience.
Buttons & laces
On occasions like Eid, no matter what the temperature is, you want to look and feel special. So, just because you are opting for a lawn suit, it doesn’t have to be plain and boring. Buttons and laces add the much-needed oomph to a seemingly plain outfit.
For the bottoms, you can use laces to accentuate the cuts. Whether you are opting for something with a flare or a straight cut, a lace of your choice will make all the difference. For your shirts, loose sleeves are always a good idea for summers and adding a wide cotton lace will look flattering on any pattern.
Moreover, big buttons and motifs serve as budget-friendly options to adorn your outfits but will give your outfit an expensive brand look. Opt for pearl buttons or something big and eye-catching as they will make your outfit look unique.
While sandals in solid colours work with any outfit, we are starting to notice a trend of comfortable footwear that mirrors the digital prints of a lawn suit. They come in a variety of designs and complement any soli-coloured outfit. Even if it’s not perfectly matching, these footwear designs look very cute with digital prints as well.
If you are going to wear your hair back or in an up-do, you can really make a statement with big hoop earrings. Whether they are small or big, bejewelled or with dangling tassels, hoops are always in style and they work with all face shapes.
Pearls possess a legendary versatility when it comes to complementing your wardrobe. Whether a bracelet, a brooch, a set of earrings, or a necklace, pearl jewellery can enhance literally any outfit. Pearls are the perfect gem for the minimalists among us. White (or black) spherical pearls are available in pendants, simple necklace strands, or stud earrings, and one piece can easily serve as your whole jewellery collection, lending a gentle touch of polish and elegance to your look.
