Women’s empowerment and promoting women’s right have emerged as a part of a major global movement and is continuing to break new ground in recent years. In this regard, organisations, like Ladiesfund, are frequently taking initiatives to promote it further through their efforts to help push the cause further by providing opportunities for women in Pakistan.

Recently, the Consul General of Pakistan in Toronto, Abdul Hameed received the delegation of Ladiesfund. Spotted at the event were politician Sarah Bokhari, art curator Neshmia Ahmed, safety expert Asma Kazmi, Happiness guru Shaista Ali, realtor Shafaq Hussain, PhD Dr Sarah Alam, beauty brand manufacturer Samina Ali, and mortgage specialist Reema Hasnain, EY’s Rukhsana Hossein, Healonline’s Kanwal Salman, and Ladiesfund President Tara Uzra Dawood. The purpose of the event was professional friendship building, networking, and connecting the community back to Pakistan.

The Consul General said, “Successful Pakistan-origin women professionals in Canada could help their counterparts in Pakistan by sharing best practices, experiences and strategies for achieving targets in their respective fields. The information technology based linkages among women professionals of both countries would build the knowledge and skill corridor with a positive impact on the quality of life of Pakistani women. Positive interventions and projects in social sectors like education and health in Pakistan by expatriate Pakistanis are now possible due to the prevalence of communication technology and its more frequent use in these sectors during the Covid period.”

“We are greatly honoured to bring this delegation of a cross section of trailblazing Pakistani-Canadian women to meet with the Honourable Consul General,” said Tara Uzra Dawood. “Our platform not only aligns and introduces these incredible, impactful women to each other, but through occasions such as these, facilitates their connection back to Pakistan and their counterparts living and working in Pakistan.”

The event was structured as a Roundtable with each delegate sharing her introduction along with needs and leads, followed by a valuable talk by the honourable Consul General. The selected delegates were representative of different sectors, ages and years living in Canada. Their success in their careers was, however, truly inspirational.

“It was an amazing event and reflected the hard work and calibre of the organisation,” expressed delegate Sarah Bokhari.

“The event was so well arranged and loved meeting everyone,” stated delegate Asma Kazmi.

The Roundtable ended with a tasty high-tea and more casual mingling over a selection of Pakistani favourite’s savouries and sweets.
