Furniture in home improves its overall beauty; this week You! takes a look at a furniture store, recently opened in Lahore...

A room should never allow the eye to settle in one place. It should smile at you and create fantasy - Juan Montoya.

our home is supposed to be your solace from the stresses of the outside world. That’s why it’s imperative that you set your home up exactly as you want to. Decorating is a great way to bring out your creativity, but knowing the best way to do it is the key to a happier home. Interiors of the house are not just curtailed to the colours of walls and the type of curtains. They expand to furniture items, their type, colours, pattern and much more. When walking into a well-designed room, it just feels right; you can sense the cohesiveness of everything coming together perfectly. This can be accomplished with the right selection of furniture. Furniture items can completely make or break the complete look of the house. By selecting the right furniture, you can relax at home and leave the outside world at the door.

When choosing furniture for your living and dining room, it’s important to pick timeless, functional pieces that fit your space and budget. Choose from contemporary and modern, traditional or a bit of both in a unique eclectic mix - there are no rules, so don’t be afraid to get creative and buy furniture you love. Furniture in home improves its overall beauty. For instance, a brand new dining table can change the whole atmosphere of your dining room and be a major feature for your family and guests to enjoy. Coffee tables can also be found in unusual materials, such as hand-crafted, coloured steel or glass coffee table aquariums. These can be very unique items of home furniture and they can really make a big change in the look of your house. Similarly stylish bedroom furniture can allow your bedroom to express your self. Matching wardrobes and dressing tables can all add to your bedroom’s overall style. There are several kinds of material that furniture is made of. You can choose between wood and wood laminates, metal, wrought iron, glass, plastic, leather and so on... the list is endless.

If you choose large furniture items for a small apartment/room, it occupies all the space. The room starts looking smaller and tacky. Thus, you should always buy such furniture items that complement the size of your house. Mismatched items will either make the room look smaller or empty. The smaller furniture items for a bigger house make the rooms appear empty. Thus, you must concentrate on the size of furniture items in order to make the rooms look proper, arranged, spacious and tidy. Colours, lighting and furniture items are inter-related. A mismatch of either of the three breaks the complete aura of the room.

Moreover, the colour of the furniture items also makes a huge impact on the overall interiors of the house. Dark coloured furniture items should be used for such houses that are spacious and where sunlight enters properly. However, if you use the same for small houses where sunlight is not enough, the complete house offers a depressive look. Thus, the type of furniture items, their colour, size, look and placement, everything makes a huge impact on the interior design of the rooms. Last but not least, the furniture you choose to allow to fill your rooms is undoubtedly an expression of your unique sense of style. It goes without saying that the pieces that we allow into our homes speak volumes about our personalities.

A new furniture store in Lahore:

After the successful launch of their home accessories store earlier this year, ‘The Lounge’ by Nyla, has now opened a new store dedicated to their furniture line at Fortress Square, Lahore. It features a complete range of interiors pieces and items perfect to assemble any space. The store encompasses hand-made contemporary furniture items ranging from custom made tables, sofas, consoles to ottomans. It also houses embroidered and digital printed cushions, leather trays, lamps, candle stands, placemats and wooden decor. Nyla’s bespoke polish finishes and bold coloured fabrics set each piece apart and reflects her unique style unlike any other.

“For us furniture is not just an element put in a room. For us it is what defines a person, and which creates a space showcasing their distinct personality,” shares Nyla Amjad Asghar, creative director of The Lounge, who started her career in interior and furniture design after graduating from Lahore’s prestigious National College of Arts (NCA) in 2009.

Talking about her furniture line she says, “Our team includes trained artisans who work on the premium quality Sheesham, a seasoned rose-wood to create a collection of hand-made contemporary furniture designed to suit a range of lifestyles that best compliments your home and taste.

“The brand aims to provide its patrons with an experience of modern living by offering flexible solutions without compromising on quality. It strives to design creations that exhibit each individual’s personal style. Our aim with the latest furniture line is to help create spaces which are bespoke, stylish and above all reflect meticulous detail and quality,” she adds.
