So, this week You! shares some of the latest trends in bridal hair and makeup. Read on...

Make me pretty:

Every girl dreams to look gorgeous on her big day and a beautifully radiant face that shows off her features perfectly is what every bride wants. And why not? After all, this is a once in a lifetime event and all eyes should be on the bride. Here are some latest trends in makeup...

Glamorous eyes:

We all love the glamorous smokey eyes. And brides these days go for smokey eyes to add drama and sophistication to their wedding day style. A smokey eye can be done using an array of wedding appropriate hues aside from the typical black. Silvers and greys, golds and bronzes to shimmery pinks are all perfect for creating well-defined eyes. Subtle hints of colour and metallic will liven up your bridal look. Smudging the shadow into the lash line and waterline will create depth and make the lashes appear fuller.

Go natural:

What every bride should remember about their wedding makeup is that they should always look like themselves, just an enhanced version. And nowadays brides are opting for a natural and understated makeup look that brings out their best features in a subtle way. This look is all about soft and natural makeup with a glowing complexion. Inspired by the ‘no makeup look’ popular on the runways, an effortlessly chic and fuss-free appearance is created with flawless dewy or matte skin, subtle hints of blush and pale pink or nude lips. All the emphasis should be on the eyes but over dramatic eyes will not gel with this look. Some brides opting for the soft and natural look will make their eyeliner and lashes the main features.

Winged eyeliner:

A popular trend in the makeup world for quite some time, winged eyeliner is transitioning into a favourite look for brides. Used to highlight and elongate the eyes, winged eyeliner adds understated glamour and will suit a range of bridal styles and outfits. Diffused styles of winged eyeliner feature thinner, less dramatic lines with delicate flicks or bold lines with an ever so slight feline flick.

Contour away:

Contouring is now a HUGE trend in makeup for any special occasion especially on the wedding day. Contouring flatters the shape of your face by enhancing your cheekbones, defining your nose and adding overall defined structure. Contouring can be achieved with the use of different shades of foundation or specialised contouring powders.

A combination of bronzer, blush and a highlighting powder will add more dimension to your face ensuring you don’t appear washed out in your all-important wedding photos.

Luscious lips

Brides are having more fun with their makeup looks by adding pops of colour to create the perfect pout. Shades of orange, peach and pink are among the favourites with brides. And of course nothing beats the traditional red lip colour. Berry shades are also being favoured by slightly more daring brides. Depending on the complexion, a light berry hue can be vibrant and youthful while a deeper toned berry is glamorous and elegant. In particular deep berry pouts are perfect for weddings held in the cooler months.

Hair talk:

Once you’ve sorted the dress and have finalized your makeup, the next item on your wedding-planning agenda will undoubtedly be picking the perfect bridal hairstyle. How you choose to style your hair can dramatically influence your entire bridal look. Some top picks of bridal hair trends are...

True romance

Beautiful, soft waves that fall naturally around your face are perfect for brides. The free flowing movement that comes with a wavy style conjures up visions of effortless beauty. Brides who prefer to wear their hair down can rejoice as dreamy waves suit a range of wedding dress silhouettes.

Braided beauties

Braids are finding their way into sleek up-dos paired with elaborate wedding outfits. Braids have an uncanny ability to suggest that you are a carefree bride who had this style just thrown together. The most favourite among brides these days is the striking side fishtail braid or a loose tousled plait worn to the side.

Bridal looks by Zara’s salon:

The good news for all brides is that renowned makeup expert and hair stylist Rizwana Khan of Zara’s salon held a fashion presentation to showcase the season’s new bridal looks at her new salon in DHA, Phase 5 Karachi.
