In 2020, lingo such as social distancing, lockdowns and quarantine became daily topics of conversation and our new normal. The Queen’s Gambit is a 2020 American coming-of-age period drama streaming television miniseries based on Walter Tevis’s 1983 novel of the same name. It was created for Netflix by Scott Frank and Allan Scott, and written and directed by the former. Beginning mid-1950s and proceeding into the 1960s, the story is about an orphaned chess prodigy on her rise to the top of the chess world while struggling with emotional problems, drug and alcohol dependency.
Emily in Paris
Emily in Paris is an American comedy-drama streaming television series created by Darren Star, which premiered on Netflix on October 2, 2020. The series stars Lily Collins as the eponymous Emily, an American who moves to Paris to provide an American point of view to a French marketing firm. There, she struggles to succeed in the workplace while searching for love and experiencing a culture clash with her ‘boring’ and mundane Midwestern upbringing.
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness
Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness (titled onscreen as simply Tiger King) is a 2020 American true crime documentary streaming television miniseries about the life of zookeeper Joe Exotic. It was released on Netflix on March 20, 2020. The series focuses on the small but deeply interconnected society of big cat conservationists such as Carole Baskin, owner of Big Cat Rescue, and collectors such as Exotic, whom Baskin accuses of abusing and exploiting wild animals.

Based on the best-selling book by Jay Asher, 13 Reasons Why follows teenager Clay Jensen as he returns home from school to find a mysterious box with his name on it lying on his porch. Inside he discovers cassette tapes recorded by Hannah Baker – his classmate and crush – who tragically committed suicide two weeks earlier. The popular series was ended with its final season this year with the graduation sequence of all Liberty High students.
Love Is Blind
Love Is Blind is a dating reality television series. The series follows thirty men and women hoping to find love. For ten days in a speed dating format, the men and women date each other in different ‘pods’ where they could talk to each other, but not see each other. Whenever they decided, the men were able to propose to the woman they want to marry. After the proposal, and meeting face to face for the first time, the engaged couples headed to a couples retreat in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. During this trip they spent time getting to know their partners and were able to meet the other couples participating in the experiment.
Following the couples retreat, the engaged couples moved to the same apartment complex back in Atlanta. While at the apartments, they all met their partners’ families and explored their partners’ living conditions. On the day of the wedding, the engaged couples carried out wedding ceremonies and needed to make their final decisions at the altar about whether to split up or get married, answering the question ‘Is love blind?’

Outer Banks follows a group of teenagers in the Outer Banks of North Carolina who are called ‘Pogues’, who live at The Cut, and are determined to find out what happened to the missing father of the group's ringleader, John B. Along the way, they discover a legendary treasure that is tied to John B’s father. Chased by the law and a wealthy and superior group called the ‘Kooks’ from Figure Eight, the Pogues seek to overcome obstacles such as drugs, love, fighting, friendship, money, and how the rich keep on winning in their quest to reach John B's father's goal that he had been working on for 20 years.
