Keeping up with their aim to promote arts and culture in Pakistan while providing entertainment to the public, Arts Council is gearing up to host the first laughter festival, later this month. Called the Festival of Humour and Laughter, it is scheduled to take place from March 27 till March 29 at the Karachi Arts Council.

Organized by Mehran Art and Literature Forum (M.A.L.F), the three-day event will “celebrate humour and laughter for tolerance, emotional health and well being,” according to their official event page on Facebook.

It further states, “The festival features: sessions on humorous prose and poetry, standup comedy, comedy theatre plays and recitations, music, skits, cartoonists’ exhibition, comedy films’ poster exhibition, book stalls, food court, kids corner and a variety of seriously funny stuff.”

The first Festival of Humour and Laughter is open to all and free of cost. One hopes the festival is able to attract as many people as it can accommodate and opens further doors for such events that will elevate comedy as part of the performing arts.
