tea

The British ritual of afternoon tea is one steeped in tradition. It was first popularised in England by Anna, the seventh Duchess of Bedford, in the year 1840 when she would routinely grow hungry around 4pm and request a tray of tea, bread and butter. Friends began to join and by the end of the century, the new trend was in full swing.

The scrumptious activity remained relatively unchanged for over a century and was often consider old and stuffy. But lately some hotels and restaurants wanted to change that perception by flipping the time-honoured tradition on its head (think quirky and totally Instagrammable). As people seek out more innovative and engaging dining experiences, creative interpretations of this time-honoured pastime are becoming increasingly desirable.

Keeping this in mind, Asia Live Restaurant at Avari Towers, Karachi, has recently introduced its Hi-tea for all the foodies to rejoice in trying some uniquely flavourful light bites. Bras meat platter, assorted mix and fresh salad, dahi phulki, dahi bondi, aloo channa chat, gol gappay, fruit chat and assorted sandwiches. Also, the main course dishes include chicken boti, gola kebab, buffalo chicken wings, daleem, vegetable chowmein, assorted pakoras, tandoori paratha roll, samosas vegetable/chicken, cheese and spinach fatayer, vegetable pasta and many other items. There are also live puri/paratha, channa tarkari and chicken Shawarma stalls for those who love binging on elaborated desi menus.

Hi-tea is a perfect way to celebrate or entertain guests especially when you do not want the party to be too formal or too casual. Let us tell you that the above mentioned elaborated menu has more in store for you. You can eat, chat and have a good time on your decked tables. So, ladies if you are looking for the right place to do your next kitty party, that’s the place to be!
