entertainment
Pakistan has enormous talent and it can be experienced in an ever changing breed of fresh blood ruling the entertainment industry after every few years. Not just they are making their name in the industry, but also changing the face of acting by setting new standards.
Around two years ago, in 2017 You! highlighted some of the then fresh faces - Aimen Khan, Kubra Khan, Rabab Hashim, Hania Aamir and Kiran Ali - who with their hard work and great acting skills made it big on our small screens. They are now in the seasoned band of actresses.
This time around, we bring you some of the new young women from the entertainment industry, who have made an entry in the world of showbiz and are already showing promising work. Let’s see how accurate our prediction will be...
Alizeh Shah
Young and beautiful Alizeh Shah can be remembered as the younger sister of Ulfat from the famous drama serial ‘Dil Mom Ka Dia’, featuring Yasir Nawaz and Neelum Munir in lead roles. This wide eyed, innocent face girl instantly made her presence felt as the leading lady’s sister not just in ‘Dil Mom Ka Dia’ but also in ‘Ishq Tamasha’.
Just within a year she can not only be seen on big screen opposite Mahira Khan and Bilal Ashraf but also bagged the lead role in ‘Jo Tu Chahe’ opposite Imran Abbas and will soon be seen in ‘Ehd-e-Wafa’ opposite Ahad Raza Mir, Osman Khalid Butt and others.
Another name that caught our attention is the young and gifted actress, Kinza Hashmi. She started off her career at a very young age and made her mark through sheer hard work and acting chops, without having any artistic background.
She has tried different genres of dramas to prove her diversity and has not even shied away to play negative characters in the start of her career to show how comfortable she is on screen. Some of her notable works were ‘Ishq Tamasha’, ‘Tishnagi Dil Ki’, ‘Maria bint-e-Abdullah’, ‘Muhabbat Tum Se Nafrat Hai’ and her currently on air serial, ‘Gul-o-Gulzar’.
There has been a lot of talk about Aiman Khan in the past few years. There is no doubt that she has done some great work but we haven’t heard much about her twin sister, Minal Khan, when it comes to acting. Though Minal is a gorgeous model, it always seemed like she was more interested in modelling while Aiman had the acting germs to make it big on that front.
However, Minal has recently done a number of plays in which she has proved her mettle as an actress. After her successful play ‘Parchayee’ last year, she can now be seen in ‘Hassad’ and ‘Ki Jaana Main Kaun’, and we are ready to watch out for this twin to make her presence felt like her sister.
Mariyam Nafees
With a debut like ‘Dyar-e-Dil’ and working alongside names like Sanam Saeed, Hareem Farooq, Mikaal Zulfiqar, Ali Rehman Khan, Osman Khalid Butt and Maya Ali, and yet making her presence felt. Mariyam Nafees had nothing to stop her from growing and flourishing. She is a natural actress whose expressions, dialogue delivery and body language do not seem forced. In fact, she blends in with her character and comes out as someone actually in a situation on screen. Her recently concluded plays ‘Kam Zarf’ and ‘Dil Kia Karay’ has placed her amongst the modern yet fierce actresses of our time.
Starting off as a VJ, Madiha ventured into acting with Tv a few years ago, but it was not until last year that she landed some good roles and got the opportunity to showcase how talented she actually is. Her play ‘Zakhm’ in 2017 put her out there as a serious actor but it was ‘Baba Jani’ that really honed her craft.
She also appeared in a Bollywood movie, ‘Dear Maya’, along with Manisha Koirala. She can be recently seen in the on going Geo TV play, ‘Mera Rab Waris’, in which she does a commendable job keeping in mind her age and her experience in the industry. She is definitely someone to make it big in the industry in the near future.
Born and raised in Saudi Arabia, Mariam moved to Pakistan at a very young age. Starting off her career in 2015, Mariam is one actress the scribe would like to mention because she has proved herself as a mature actress in the short span of time. Remembering her role in ‘Dil Lagi’, in which she played Mahwish Hayat’s younger sister, Mariam is smart and a modern woman who stood by her morals and values in the play and faced opposition with strength.
Some other plays that highlighted her dedication and hard work were ‘Ab Kar Meri Rafugari’, ‘Tere Mere Beech’, ‘Aangan’ and ‘Qaid’. If she keeps getting versatile roles, she will soon prove herself as one of the best actresses of the country.
