This year’s winter has been rather long but regardless of that, the weather has finally beginning to warm. And that means one thing; spring is here. The onset of spring makes everything look beautiful. The sun starts shining, flowers blossom, air clears up and our wardrobe gets brighter, thanks to the lawn frenzy. What often lags behind is how we welcome spring into our homes...

In reality, spring is nature’s way of saying; ‘Lets Party’ and home interiors must reflect that. There are various ways to transition your home from the cold and dreary winter to the light and airy spring. And if you’re wondering how to do that, here are just a few ways that you can work around your space to make it look reflective of the season.

Get some greenery in there!

If you want to welcome a bit of spring into your home, then consider visiting a nursery, investing in some good indoor plants and sprucing up your space with some greenery. Indoor plants are a great way to add life to any home. They’re easy to maintain, keep the air fresh and also add life to the space. Just look for an interesting wooden planter and add in some beautiful plants in them to make your home more reflective of spring!

Add in some flowers

How do we find out spring is here? The flowers start blossoming! Spring is synonymous with flowers and how can we welcome spring in our homes without some beautiful flowers? They instantly brighten up a room and add an old charm that nothing else can replicate. So if you’re looking to add some old school charm to your space, just bring home a bunch of fresh pink roses with gypsophila or more commonly known as baby breath in our part of the world. They will not only make your space instantly look more beautiful but also make your day every time you look at them.

Make space for new art

A home without art is a body without soul! If your home has been deprived of artwork, now is the time to change that. It doesn’t have to be an exquisite or expensive piece. It can be from a roadside artist or a canvas with your own creativity (as long as you’re aware of your creative limitations). A simple but bright abstract art piece can do wonders for your home.

Throw in a bright throw!

Sometimes a bright coloured throw on the couch can do great wonders one couldn’t imagine in the first place. Not only can it hide the defects of the sofa, but also add instant energy. You can pick a contrasting coloured throw for your living room couch or your bed in the room to add instant spring feel and energy to your space. It’s easily replaceable and hence one can experiment with different colours every season.

Add some bright cushions

Another way to brighten up a space or camouflage an old couch is to throw in some bright cushions. Colours like yellow work well with blue and black sofas and add energy to the room. You don’t even have to get cushions stitched.

There are websites on the Internet that have various options of bright coloured cushions in unique patterns and funky designs. Most of them are easy on the pocket too ranging between Rs. 500 to Rs. 1000 for a cushion. Just pick one of those.

Refurbish an old couch

If you feel a throw or cushions couldn’t do much to your couch, it means the time has come to refurbish the good old fellow. Out of all budget friendly interior-decorating tips on our list, this one may just be the biggest splurge, but in the long run, it may just be well worth it.

Look around the cloth stores for a printed cloth and then match a plain cloth with it and use a combination of these two to revamp your couch into a unique and eccentric piece that will catch everyone’s attention.

Invest in some new table linen

The dining rooms are hard places to brighten up and beautify. Well, one great way to revamp them for spring is to use multicoloured table linen. Use an assortment of bright colours and just let your entire table scream spring. Add a bunch of flowers in a vase as the centrepiece and you’re ready to host a spring brunch!

These are just a few tips to welcome spring into your home. We’ve all waited throughout a long winter for this and we must embrace it fully in our personal spaces. Light up the candles, bring in some flowers and lighten up your scents.
