Coco Chanel very wisely said, “Simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance.” There are trendsetters and there are trend followers. Style icons like Marilyn Monroe, Audrey Hepburn, Prince to the more contemporaries like Anna Wintour and Lady Gaga - they are all immortalised with their style. Regardless of what was trending, they raised their heads up high and flaunted in their own element.
With new brands popping up left and right, it’s a rare feat to find comfort and style - all in the same place. Though, we can’t deny that we have been spoiled for choice when it comes to clothing - it’s refreshing to see brands making pertinent statements with their collections.
Recently, YBQ Design studios launched their Autumn/Fall luxury pret compilation in Karachi. The collection, inspired the natural nearest form, not only offering a luxury pret compilation, but also a line of accessories collection titled ‘YBQ RetroFit’. The pret has two varieties which are the hand-stitched pashmina and khadi cotton for casual and daily wear. The accessories, however, are engraved with semi-precious stones with a story to tell for each one.
At the launch event, the owner of the studios Yousuf Bashir Qureshi said that, “The inspiration for the line was derived from our identity - Shanakht. Through this collection, we are trying to portray that clothes protect, not hide from rays or gaze, but it is what defines our individuality. I hope we get the same appreciation for our new collection like we had gotten for our previous ones.”
Distinguished as the pioneer of utilitarian avant garde amongst the inner circles of the sub continental fashion scene, one could say the label was truly born with YBQ himself. Having had the penchant for dressing up since childhood, Qureshi has been dolling up himself and those who have collaborated with him since the very beginning.
Coming back to the launch, the event was a success with a number of renowned media personalities who attended the event. Celebs like Sarwat Gillani, Hania Amir, Saboor Aly, Danyal Zafar, recognised photographer Rizwan ul Haq and makeup artist Nighat Misbah graced the occasion with their presence.
