Disney is churning out one remake after another and it seems to be working in their favour because who doesn’t love a good Disney story? Emma Watson’s Beauty and the Beast proved to be hugely successful and all the Disney remakes usually find an audience with the twenty-something who grew up reading/watching Disney stories, as well as the younger lot who probably never watched the original cartoons.

While there are many more remakes in the pipeline, such as Nutcracker and our personal favourite, Mulan, the remake of The Lion King is definitely one of the most anticipated ones. The main characters have already found a voice: James Earl Jones will be reprising Mufasa and Donald Glover will be voicing Simba. Other voice actors include Seth Rogen as Pumbaa, Billy Eichner as Timon and John Oliver as Zazu. Beyonce was also in contention to play Nala, but it remains unclear if she will accept the role.

According to The Wrap, it also seems as though the film may have found an actor to voice the iconic villain. Chiwetel Ejiofor is currently in talks to voice Scar in The Lion King remake. The film is all set to release in July, 2019.
