This week You! takes a look at five assorted collections that are perfect for Eid...
The most adored high-street retail brand in town ‘Sapphire’ has come out with their Eid collections. Yes, that’s right! This time around they have some amazing ranges of unstitched and pret wear. The brand pays homage to holiday day-dream with its unstitched ‘Lawn Eid Edition’ which is set fittingly against the romance of Greek vistas and the sheer boldness of the Mediterranean.
The brand has also launched its ‘Festive’ and ‘Ready-to-Wear’ lines. ‘Festive’ is the new range of luxury unstitched fabric that boasts of plush fabrics and intricate embroideries. Based on a colour palette of rich hues, the 7 exquisite designs are available in a range of three-piece suits with silk dupattas. ‘Ready-to-Wear’ Eid collection takes you on a nostalgic journey through timeless elegance. The semi-formal range consists of intricately embroidered and block printed ensembles in solid colours that can be paired with the newly-introduced range of elegant dupattas. It also features an exquisite range of digitally printed silk tunics.
Recently, our very own designer Nida Azwer has expanded her label to appeal to a more diverse clientele and has launched ‘DINA’ - a line of Kaftans and Abayas. Her new range ‘DINA’ features over 30 distinct kaftans and abayas ranging from luxury evening wear to understated formal wedding wear, resonating with atelier’s signature work from screen and emboss printing to delicate embroideries with zardozi and crystal work. Pure silks and georgettes have been used for this collection in hues such as black, navy, maroon, gold and off white.
For girls who want to look pretty yet chic, this is the Eid collection you should go for. We are talking about the coveted luxury label Elan that has launched ‘Festive Eid Collection’ with 7 unstitched exquisite designs. The limited-edition collection embodies old-world charm with a contemporary touch. With exquisite embroideries on plush fabrics, this collection is all about restrained glamour of fine thread embroideries, earthy tones and high quality fabrics.
That is not all! For this collection, the brand has partnered with L’Oreal Paris to introduce ‘Eid Makeup Looks 2017’. Makeup Expert Saima Rashid Bargfrede curated 3 looks, based on the latest makeup trends from Paris Fashion Week 2017; Dewy Fresh, Blush Boom and Colour Me Summer.
The brand that is best known for their edgy, avant-garde interpretation of Pakistani design is MAGHUL. Following the success of their debut luxury lawn earlier in May, the brand has introduced two collections of luxury pret-a-porter for Eid titled ‘Serene’ and ‘Gulban’ via exhibitions in Lahore and Karachi. As the name suggests, ‘Serene’ channels a sense of clean minimalism in aesthetic, drawing on a paler colour palette with a lighter technique of embroidery that is a mixture of applique and thread work. ‘Gulban’ is inspired by different flowers, interpreted to create limited edition eye catching prints for trousers that can be worn with a fusion sensibility and is based in cottons, silks and georgettes. True to the brand’s philosophy of presenting progressive fashion, both collections present modern silhouettes along with some signature cuts. Currently, the brand is housed at a standalone studio space in Lahore. The brand further stocks pret-a-porter across Pakistan. Girls not residing in Lahore, worry not as their entire range is available online!
Another designer to have launched interesting Eid designs is Farheen Surmawala who recently held an exclusive fashion exhibit at FPL, Dolmen Mall, Clifton, Karachi. Her new summer 2017 collection titled ‘Ethereal Elegance’ features a sublime fusion of eastern and western cuts in beautiful summer friendly hues that range from pretty pastels to bright shades. The designer has used lace, pearls and floral accents for her outfits. The event was a star studded one with media personalities, socialites and celebs in attendance. The exhibit also featured a fashion presentation where models flaunted beautiful designs by Farheen. The hair and makeup of the models was done by Mona J salon. About her latest exhibition, designer Farheen Surmawala said, “I have always felt there is a gap for women who want to buy clothes that are pretty yet practical without compromising on feminine elegance and beauty of details. So with this collection I wanted to cater to all those women who appreciate aesthetic with exquisite craftsmanship and delicate patterns without going too heavy on prints and patterns.”
