Huma and Amir Adnan's bespoke home exudes warmth and freshness. Their spacious home is welcoming as well as exciting. The house unquestionably suits the couple's fast-paced and jet-set lifestyle. It has the convenience and ease of maintenance they were looking for, and is undeniably a place where they are truly 'at home'.
The designer duo's home - with its artwork, accessories and bright pops of colour - is packed with personality. "We have been living in this house for the past four years. The house has been designed and structured by our architect Mr. Samdani, who kept in mind our specifications while building the house," says Huma. "Once we were done with the basic structure, Adnan and I started furnishing the house according to our taste and style," adds Huma.
Their home is an artful mash up of materials, textures and colours, which have created an authentic yet cool and intimate home. Their abode is designed in a way that fresh light pours in throughout the day, bounced from all angles - thanks to the gorgeous mirrors that are placed strategically in almost every room. The entire house has a luxurious feel without feeling too over embellished. Rich sumptuous materials such as the silk curtains, crystal, silver and golden accessories all add an overall brightness to their home.
Built on modern lines, the house carries eclectic furniture pieces. "I like contemporary pieces and that's what reflects in the house also. The furniture pieces are from different parts of the world. We have a mix of Pakistani Sheesham beds and some tables, Italian sofas and decorations and some influences of Nepal and the Middle East. My favourite piece of furniture is my white leather sofa in the lounge since it allows me to doze off when I am too tired," notifies Huma.
The house is adorned with exquisite objets d'art which they have collected from all over the world. "We are big on travelling and we love to pick artefacts from everywhere. We personally love Tuscany and the architecture of that place."
In each room, the couple has displayed artwork they have invested in creating a point of interest on the otherwise neutral walls. The house boasts of carrying an impressive collection of exotic paintings by renowned local and international artists including Nahid Raza and Iqbal Mehdi. "We are still in the process of collecting pieces which would fit the interior. My much loved piece of art is a painting of a girl by a Turkish artist I bought at an auction in Hollywood," elucidates Huma.
However, what makes their lovely home more appealing is the inclusion of greenery in their beautiful lounge area. "It's quite refreshing to see little birds chirping around you while you are having your morning tea," tells Huma.
Well they say home is where the heart is and according to Huma her kitchen is the heart of their home. "I love my kitchen. This is the space where my family meets over for meals and gup shup regularly. However, since my hectic schedule doesn't allow me to cook on a regular basis, I seldom cook. I only manage the house and juggle between both home and office. But I often give recipes to my chef," explains Huma.
Huma likes to keep her lawn in immaculate shape. "Since we entertain a lot, I would like my guests to have a good impression of outdoors too. Our lawn is maintained by my trained staff and I over look on weekends with Adnan. And yes, I am also doing the exterior of the house with a local artist. It's still in the planning stages though," she informs.
When it comes to home decor trends, Huma doesn't follow the trends strictly. "I don't generally follow international trends. I go for minimal and clean look. I don't indulge in extravagance other than art. I don't mind spending money on paintings but when it comes to other stuff, you can buy anything from anywhere. You just have to have an eye and good taste to pick 'jewel' out of 'junk'," she signs off with a smile.
