you & me
Acting comes naturally to Adil Murad. Born to a star father Waheed Murad (late), Adil has been a part of glitz and glamour since he was a child. He worked in two films as a child star and one in his teens. However, he professionally started acting in 2005. He was first introduced to television by Sania Saeed and Shahid Shafaat. “I was lucky to play the lead opposite Sania Saeed in my first T.V play,” says Adil. Gradually he was able to impress the audience by his acting skills. His T.V show ‘Lakhon ka Such’ was an instant hit that made him a household name in no time.
These days Adil is busy shooting for Syed Noor’s new movie ‘Cheyn Aye Na’ which is going to be realeased in July this year. He is also appearing in a soap called ‘Baby’ at a private channel. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in Finance from University of Houston, Adil Murad is a right combination of talent and brains. Let’s take a look at his likes & dislikes...
I think 50 plus.
What are your most memorable shows or drama serials to-date?
‑‘Suno Na’, my first play. ‘Buri Aurat’, directed by the legendary Javed Fazil (late), and ‘Lakhon ka such’, a show which I hosted.
‑Acting has always been a passion. It’s a good thing that now you can also make some money out of it.
‑The experience so far has been wonderful. Syed Noor is a veteran director with 55 films under his belt. I have amazing co-stars to work with - Sehrish, (granddaughter of Sabiha Khanum and Santosh Kumar) and Shehroz Subzwari.
‑More nervous than excited. As an actor, a film actually tests your mettle. Lately, more Pakistani films have been flops than hits so I have my fingers crossed.
‑Hugo Boss, Giorgio Armani, and Zara.
‑The neighbourhood photographer who takes my passport pictures :)
‑I am extremely casual in my daily life. You’ll mostly find me in my favourite jeans and a polo shirt.
Deodorant.
‑Never! So far I’ve been taking my chances with the sun :)
I’m honest.
‑I love a style of jeans by Diesel. I own 5 pairs of the same.
‑Witty and have a sense of humor.
‑Would probably be Saba Qamar, even though I haven’t worked with her...
‑I procrastinate and worry too much...
Fake and pretentious.
‑A beautiful woman and I am always happy and comfortable with my childhood buddies with whom I can be myself all the time.
‑The future and what it holds. (I told you above that I have an irritating habit of worrying too much).
‑‑When my five-year-old crawls up on me and puts his head on my shoulder to sleep.
‑My father’s watch and ring that have been passed on to me...priceless!
‑I love steaks and lamb... so Jason’s Steakhouse it is! On the other hand, ‘Dua’ restaurant or ‘Cafe Laziz’ on Burns Road would be just as good.
‑The ‘Thomas Crown Affair’, ‘Last of the Mohicans’, “The Godfather trilogy’.
‑Not really. I’m not very fussy about shopping. I usually just go out to buy what I need rather than spending hours at the mall.
‑Lately, award ceremonies and fashion events.
‑To be alone...solitude and self reflection helps me get back up.
Guns.
‑Not very social... a borderline loner.
‑I love to spend my Sundays at the shooting range.
Waffles.
‑It is 3-4 days at the gym with a mix of cardio/weights.
‑The bench-press - being the simplest.
‑My two boys and my first expensive watch, a Mont Blanc gifted by my brother-in-law.
‑“Adil could never say that, he is an honourable man” and of course, “He’s like his father.”
‑Is that I am rude...I am really not. I am just an introvert personality so it takes me longer to open up to new people.
‑Is that I can choose to be whoever I want...
‑A rare moment stolen right from under the eyes of the world.
‑Hmm... that’s a tough one. There should actually be a manual for new actors which teaches them etiquettes, professionalism, and a lot more. If someone really wants to be an actor then they should pursue it with passion and be true to their work. And always remember ‘Fame’ is a dangerous thing! Easily attained, hard to maintain. Be ready for all the highs and lows.
‑I would probably be working a 9-5 schedule in an office somewhere in the US!
