you & me
Who did not watch ‘Hamsafar’? - the mega hit serial which put Fawad and Mahira on stardom status. The serial broke all records of popularity owing to its simple and romantic story line and strong performances by all the actors. We all hated the character of ‘Sara’ who was egoistic and possessive. This character was played by Naveen Waqar. The very fact that we all hated her in that serial speaks eloquently of Waqar’s acting skills. Not many people know that before joining TV in 2006, Waqar used to work for radio. From there she was spotted by a head of a prestigious channel who invited her to do a TV show for the channel. So far Waqar has done 6 drama serials, 2 telefilms and 2 fashion shows. These days she is busy shooting for ‘Kuch Na Kaho’, and preparing for a new serial. This week meet this humble, friendly and a very fine actress in our You & Me section.
For me it has to be ‘Sayae Dewar Bhi Nahi’. It has helped me grow as an actor.
I never do anything which I am not passionate about.
I am not into labels. I wear what looks good on me.
I’ve worked with quite a few but I don’t have a personal favourite.
If I’m home then pajamas. Stepping out, I either wear loose kurtas or jeans.
Lip balm.
If it’s an evening out then yes, otherwise no.
With the right person anything can seem romantic. Even something like sharing silence together.
I have a good heart.
Too many - depending on whether it’s eastern or western attire.
Educated, civilised and know how to treat a lady.
I don’t have a favourite but I think it’s more about getting along with the person you’re working with, and thankfully I’ve gotten along with almost everyone I’ve worked with.
I can’t sit still for too long.
Hypocritical and mean spirited.
Positive minded and genuine people.
Upsetting my mother.
Waking up every morning and doing what I love.
A ring my mom gave me on my birthday.
None in particular, but definitely places that have amazing desserts.
It’s a tie between ‘Constantine’ and ‘Wonder Boys’.
Unfortunately yes. I suffer from buyers’ remorse quite frequently.
People talking about themselves.
A hot coffee and a good book.
My baby cousins.
The funny/crazy one.
I have always been happiest at home. I am not as social as I would like to be but I am getting better.
At home with my family.
It’s a tie between pancakes or scrambled eggs with hash browns and coffee.
Cleansing, exfoliating, moisturizing.
Swimming.
A birthday wish from someone who I thought had forgotten me.
You’re beautiful inside out.
I’m conceited and have an attitude problem.
Be who you are. That’s your biggest strength.
What do you like most about your job?
Playing all kinds of different people and living their story. It fascinates me.
If you weren’t doing what you are doing today... you would be...
A writer or a professor!
