weddings
This week You! features some of the bridal looks for the upcoming wedding season as witnessed at the recently held Bridal Week in Lahore ...
In the sub-continent, bridal wear is one of the most booming businesses of the fashion industry; it is every designer’s dream to create pieces that leave an indelible mark on the viewer while creating a niche clientele at the same time. Like every year PFDC L’Oreal Paris Bridal Week became the most anticipated fashion event of the year featuring bridal looks for the upcoming wedding season - inspired to create dynamics in couture wear, make-up and hair trends.
Here are some prevalent beauty trends from the recently concluded PLBW’16.
The official hair and makeup stylist was Nabila and her team and as always they stood on top of their game. Known for perfection and consistency, the team managed to woo the audience with the innate love of an eccentric belief in depicting rapidly changing times and concepts. Full marks to her team lead by Tabesh Khoji who is incessantly following international trends closely for an edgy take on the various collections and moods. According to Tabesh, “To create an overall impact on the runway, working with separate looks for each showcase requires an extensive know how while understanding the concepts of designers is vital.”
The Red head
During HSY’s showcase, L’Oreal Paris also celebrated their latest ‘Ambassador of Fashion’ platform collaboration with Hassan Sheheryar Yasin for the ‘Excellence Reds’ Collection. This campaign brought to life the beauty and powerful personality of red hair. HSY played with a selective colour palette using dark colours to provide contrast and accentuate the red fiery hair. The Excellence Red woman signifies strength, independence and ability to get around in the world with the perfect hair. Hair that sets her apart from the rest of the world by providing a statement and gives her the confidence she needs to make her dreams come true with hair and makeup by N-Pro. “HSY has always given us creative liberty to experiment and design something out of the box which is why it was an honour to work with him,” says Khoji.
Beauty meets fashion
Indeed in continuation of the beauty meets fashion platform each season, this year the brand collaborated again with three designers to create and define three distinct bridal makeup looks for the season including Ali Xeeshan, The House of Kamiar Rokni and MAHGUL.
Trends to follow...
Each year Nabila strives to set bench marks as she gels her fashion experience into creating minimal yet distinctive looks with great aplomb. We saw a number of trends that were picked up from the international Fashion Weeks held in New York, London and Milan prior to this. While dark eye creates drama glittery eye make-up is still ruling the roost, and Nabila’s team created versions of the bold, sultry look with dark reds and plums for lips. Fouzia Aman for instance came out with a blazing shade of red in an all red ball gown for Aamina Naeem (Rising talent) with dark eyes to complement the look.
Also, we saw gelled back hairdos, floral head tiaras, side parting, beach waves that is universally flattering for all hair lengths.
Strobing is the name of the game
Explaining the looks created for the fashion week, Tabesh Khoji emphasizes on strobing as the pick of the trend. “Instead of a heavy contoured look, non-touring is a fusion of contouring and strobing which gives a very natural looking dewy skin without the harsh lines and layers of foundation. The natural glow gives an automatic radiance and youthful appeal,” he explains.
The pout craze
“We did brushed-up brows as it transforms the look of the face. For autumn; the olive drape is the best eye colour. We tried experimenting with mahogany eyes and lip-contouring, which is the season’s hottest craze. Perfection of the pout or full lips for the pout craze trending is another trick that we tried at the fashion week. As for hues for lips; bordeaux, peach, candy apple red and glassy lips are the seasonal favourites."
The metallic way
Goodbye smokey eyes
Smokey eyes and heavy contouring is surely making an exit this year according to the N-Pro maven while he predicts mahogany and glossy eyes, glittery eyes and pop art colour for the eyes.
Go the metallic way
The highlighter craze is still going strong and we saw plenty of glow on the runway. “It gives a lasting impression to the overall look,” shares Tabesh Khoji. Though metallics were a trend for summers yet they have lingered on through the changing season and the right application, can make a crafty but lasting effect.
