If an actor is good looking, has good taste in clothes and knows how to act then he is bound to gain popularity in no time. Same is the case with Ali Rehman, who with his killer looks, was able to catch the attention of millions right away with his first drama serial - ‘Rishtay kuch Adhooray Se’. Rehman was introduced to showbiz by Nina Kashif about three years ago. However, before entering into showbiz he was involved with theatre for over 10 years but he got actual fame through his three drama serials which he has done so far. And now with his latest film ‘Janaan’ Rehman has emerged as a new heartthrob of the industry. These days he is working on a few projects that will be unveiled soon. • What are your most memorable drama serials to-date?

The most memorable drama serial to-date is ‘Diyar-e-Dil’

• Is acting your passion or just a time pass? Or a way of making money?

TV is definitely a passion and not a way to make money. It’s something that I’ve always been doing. It’s been a passion and a dream since I was a little boy.

• Your favourite international labels?

I’m not very brand conscious but I usually wear whatever fits well. I like Diesel, Ferragamo, Bershka, Pull & Bear, Zara and Massimo Dutti. Also Burberry is great for coats!

• Your favourite designers:

I don’t have a particularly favourite designer. But I do admire a lot of people’s work like HSY, Humayun Alamgir and Munib Nawaz. Well, I think Omer Farooq is fantastic and Republic is great.

• Your favourite photographer:

I haven’t had the luxury to work with many photographers but I think Jaffer Hasan and Ali Hussain are really good. 

• What do you usually wear in daily life?

Jeans and T-shirt mostly or a button down shirt.

• What is one cosmetic/ product you cannot do without?

Sunscreen and moisturizer.

•  Your idea of romance:

My idea of romance is spontaneity.

• One thing you like best about yourself.

I think I’m very honest and sometimes it gets me into trouble but it keeps me true to myself. The other thing I like about myself is my positivity. I try not to look at negative things or get depressed.

• Which designer’s clothes you would always love to wear? 

There are many designers that I would love to wear, local and international. Currently, I’m wearing a brand from Islamabad called Mohtaram. Also, HSY was kind enough to provide us outfits for the London premiere. But I would also really like to wear Omer Farooq and Republic. Internationally, my all-time favourite is Tom Ford and a big fan of Alexander McQueen.

• You like girls who are...

I like girls who are confident, smart, athletic and positive. Negativity really sucks my energy.

• Your favourite co-star?

My favourite co-star has to be Hareem Farooq.

• How was your experience of working in films?

My experience of working in films has been amazing. It’s something that I always wanted to do.

• How was ‘Jannan’ experience?

The Jannan experience was a mind blowing one because it was like working with family. People working on camera and off, were all part of a big family unit.

• You don’t like people who are...

I don’t like people who are dishonest and pretend to be somebody else on your face. Also,

 I think ingenuity is a very unattractive quality.

• Happiness is...

Life, family and doing what you love the most.

•  What’s your most valuable possession?
  

My most valuable possession is not material but spiritual. It’s my faith in Allah and how strong it is.

•  Your all time favourite movies:

I have many favourites like ‘Godfather’, ‘Scarface’, ‘Taxi Driver’, ‘Legends of the Fall’ and so many more.

•  Are you a shopaholic?

Yes, I am a shopaholic

•  What bores you the most?

Inactivity. I just don’t like having nothing to do. Small talks bore me and I can’t just keep up with sitting still.

• When feeling low you prefer:

I prefer to put on a good movie or talk to a friend. 

• You are crazy about...

I think I’m crazy about colognes and the other thing would be technology.

• Among your friends you are known as...

I’m known as the crazy one 

• Are you a social person or a loner?

Yes I’m a very social person

• How do you like to spend your Sundays?

It really depends but I like watching a movie or hang out with friends sometimes.

• What’s your favourite breakfast food?

Oatmeal, walnuts and honey

• Your secret of being so fit...

I hit the gym regularly

• The best gift you have ever received?

 This is a tough one! I think the best gift I’ve ever received is a laptop.

• The best thing that’s been said about me

I’m a good actor!

• The biggest misconception about you:

Apparently people think I’m a very stuck up person. I come across as a very arrogant man but that is not the case.

• How do you deal with your fans?

I try to respond to all my fans when I meet them on the streets and try to get pictures taken with them because fans are who make you. Of course, I can’t keep up with everyone but I try my level best to respond to all of them.

• What would be your advice to someone who is thinking of becoming an actor?

My advice would be to work hard and surround yourself with like-minded people as in other actors who want to do the same thing. Get involved in small activities like theatre or whatever that helps you grow. I know it doesn’t pay well but don’t stop because I’ve seen a lot of talent go to waste because they just want to earn a living and not pursue it.

•  What do you like most about your job?

What I like about my job is to just be able to do what I love the most and act out a scene and be an actor.
