immense popularity owing to its catchy songs and sleek videos like ‘Janeman’, ‘Jadoo Ka Charagh’ and ‘

Mr. Fraudiay’. However, after the disbanding of the group in 2000 Faakhir opted to go solo. His debut album ‘Aatish’ was an instant hit. As a music

composer and vocalist Faahkir has given us melodious songs like ‘Dil Na Lagey’, ‘Jiya Na Jaye’, ‘Mahi Ve’, ‘Dil Ruba’ etc. For Faakhir music is his passion. “I have been making music from as early as grade 5 in school,” says the crooner. Faakhir produced five songs in the recently concluded Coke Studio Season 9. His latest song ‘Dil Kamla’ is soft and

mellow. These days he is working on several projects including music for film and

T.V serials. Let’s see what are the likes

and dislikes of this multi-talented man.

  What is your specialized field of singing? Are you into rock & roll, jazz or pop?

I’ve experimented with various genre of music, however, most of my released music has been Pakistani Pop rock, Filmi pop and folk pop.

  What is your most memorable concert to-date?

 There have been several unforgettable performances all over the world.

  In your childhood were you a bright student?

I wouldn’t say I was bright, I was above average

  Who was your favorurite rock/jazz star when you were growing up or in your teens?

Pink Floyd

  How many music albums you have released so far?

‘Aatish’, ‘Sub tun Sohniay’, ‘Mantra’, ‘Jee chaahay’.

  How was your Coke studio experience as a music producer?

 It was a terrific journey. I was able to collaborate with so many artists and musicians; I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it.

 Faakhir Your claim to fame song:

I can’t name one. But I guess ‘Mahi Vey’.

  The price of fame:

I think fame should be used positively for the betterment of society in general. Fame is great. You should enjoy it. You have to see it in totality.

  What did you like best about Coke Studio?

Reminder of the fact that live music is also a team sport. I really admire Bilal & Faisal for all the friendly collaboration, team effort and cordial working environment at Coke Studio. 

  Do you think these types of platforms are essential for the survival of music industry?

Yes we need several more opportunities, projects and platforms for our budding music artists in our country if we want to stop looking at Bollywood sooner or later.

I don’t need to find any qualities in our nation to like it - I love my country and countrymen anyway

I would prefer a lazy Sunday, however, if I have work to do or socialize, I don’t mind getting out of the house.
