From preppy and edgy to sporty or glam, pastel colours can be incorporated in any kind of outfit and can be worn by anyone as a fashion statement...Pretty in pastel !

Soft, romantic and ethereal, pastel colours instantly cheer you up. Velvety peach, pale pink, powdery mint, guava, lavender and baby blue - all these delicious pastel shades have a beautiful way of making any skin tone shine.

Even though, pastel colours have been used for a long time and have been utilized in different mediums of arts and crafts, in fashion they became popular during the 1980s. Pastels, also called chalky colours, are a great choice if you wish to add a little colour to an outfit, but in a softer, more subtle manner.

From preppy and edgy to sporty or glam, pastel colours can be incorporated in any kind of outfit and can be worn by anyone as a fashion statement. However, when it comes to real life, incorporating pastels in our wardrobes may seem a little tricky. Whether you’re the classic girly girl or live on the edge, there are easy ways to incorporate these whisper-light hues into your summer wardrobe. Read on to find out more...

Go minimalistic:

The first thing to remember is not to overdo your pastel shade outfit. Also it is important to note that what is seen on fashion runways cannot be applied in real life in the same manner. Maybe pale lemon and sugary pink dress with lace details, accessorized with pastel shoes, bags and headbands look chic on the catwalk, but in reality they can be too much. Instead, try to calm things down by accessorizing your pastel clothes with pieces in white or other neutral tones.

Colour block:

All pastel colours look amazing with each other and you can mix and match more than two pastel shades in a look. Mix pastel shades on the principle of colour-blocking, using outfits with clean straight lines. Pastel colour-blocking will not work with clothes featuring too complicated cuts, details and draperies. If you like, you can wear four pastel tones in a single look adding a bright accessory to create a contrast.

Pastel hues and florals:Pretty in pastel !

One thing about floral prints is that it never goes out of style and looks perfect in spring and summer season. Pastel colours with floral prints look especially intriguing and romantic. For instance, lavender with bright pink and purple flowers will not only look pretty but feminine too.

Pair it up:

You can never make a mistake wearing pastel colours with white. Pair up your pretty pastel shirt or kurti with white trousers or tulip shalwar and not only will you look elegant but this way the emphasis will remain on your shirt. White enhances the softness and femininity of pastel hues and at the same time manages to balance things out for a more harmonious look. Also you can always replace white with beige tones. Pastels with white or beige are just perfect for summers.

Let’s makeup:

Admit it or not but no look is complete without makeup. However, trying to achieve that perfect look with a pastel attire can be a little tricky. Quite often glamorous and sassy looks are associated with bling-bling shimmery hues. However, this isn’t the case when you are wearing a light shade. So, make sure that you avoid pastel and coloruful shades for your makeup. Instead keep things minimal and neutral. During the day play with dull gold or  versatile earthy-toned eye shadows and nude lipsticks. Don’t forget to apply lots of mascara. For an evening look you can go for black eyeliner and bright lips.

Nail it:

How can we forget nail colours! Pastels are very trendy and can instantly add colour to your look. Pick any pastel nail colour, paying attention to your outfits. It’s advised to opt for deeper shades, as paler hues tend to make your nails look short.

Shoes and accessories:Pretty in pastel !

When it comes to the best shoes to wear with pastel outfits, stick to either neutral or bright shades to create harmony and to balance things out. You can never go wrong with black, white, cream, beige and brown shoes . And if you are bold enough to carry the look and add energy to your attire, you are always welcome to pick a bright matching shade to go with your outfits. For instance you can accessories your yellow floral print pastel dress with shocking pink pumps and nude bag. Metallic jewellery pieces (both gold and silver) always look chic with pastel outfits.

Remember, the key is to go for shoes and bags that not only complement your outfit but suit your personality as well.
