Momina Teli, a Karachi-based designer, creates formal dresses for women. Though Teli has done bachelors in business from Pennsylvania state university, designing clothes has always been her passion. After working in the textile industry for few years she launched her luxury pret-a-porter label in 2010. The label has since expanded to include complete weekend, work and evening collections. According to Teli, her design ethos focuses more on luxurious, pure fabrics and impeccable stitching and finish. Embellishment and embroidery is used for effect and to enhance the cuts rather than just for the sake of embellishments. Currently her collections are available in London, Los Angeles, Singapore and Jakarta. This week Teli shares her experiences and beauty secrets with our readers...

You! What is your design philosophy?

Momina Teli:  Understated luxury.

You! Why do you think women should wear designer clothes?

M.T: To feel confident, comfortable and yet stand out in a crowd.

You! What do you like best about designing clothes?

M.T: The design process really excites me. I love experimenting with embroidery.

I don’t get facials but I like to go to Nina Lotia’s Salon whenever I feel like being pampered

Drink plenty of water, moisturise

You! Do you use anti-ageing creams?

No

You! Do you believe in treatments like Botox?

Yes - If done correctly it can help

maintain a youthful appearance but

far too often people overdo it and

they end up looking unnatural,

expressionless or their features are

altered. I have personally never tried it

You! Are you fond of using too much makeup or you prefer a good skin with minimal amount of makeup?

I love make up and do use it on an

almost daily basis

You! Where do you go for your make-up shopping? Any favourite outlet?

Mostly try to stock up whenever

I travel

You!  Do you use whitening creams? Are they any good?

On the contrary I love using bronzers and self-tanners. Guerlain terracotta bronzing powder is amazing, so is Mac ‘golden’
