Recently, Deepak Perwani, an ace designer, celebrated his 30 years in fashion in a glitzy affair in Karachi. The event was a dual treat for fashionistas as it was also the opening of his new atelier in DHA.
The spacious new atelier showcases the designer’s most sought-after collections, along with an extensive range of his luxury menswear, signature heirloom bridals, formals, semi-formals and prêt-à-porter collections, all under one roof.
Speaking on the occasion of the grand launch of his new atelier in Karachi, which coincides with the mark of 30 Years of Style Celebration by the couturier, Deepak Perwani commented, “When you love what you do… and I think I am blessed to have done what I wanted to do with my life, which is fashion designing; then you wouldn’t change that for anything. It’s been a fantastic roller coaster ride for 30 years now and there’s another 30 years to come... I mean, what’s better than making fabulous creations that inspire the world! And that is what you will see in our new atelier in Karachi too.”
The star-studded launch, honouring the 30 years legacy of Deepak Perwani, was an exciting affair which was attended by the fashion fraternity, journalists and celebrities including Adnan Siddiqui, Amar Khan, Sarwat Gilani, Sanam Saeed, Mohib Mirza, Junaid Khan, Adeel Hussain and others. A number of leading designers were also spotted on the occasion, who were there to support and congratulate Deepak on completing his wonderful 30 years in the industry including Maheen Khan, Umar Sayeed, Warrdha Saleem, Sadaf Malaterre and Aamna Aqeel. And then there were personalities like Amin Gulgee, Ronak Lakhani, Asim Raza, Saqib Malik, Fouzia Aman, Fifi Haroon, Madiha Iftikhar, Tabesh Khoja, Fareshteh Aslam and Frieha Altaf who made the ambiance more vibrant with their presence.
Mr Perwani, who is an avid actor as well, is also currently on the board of senate of the Pakistan Institute of Fashion Design (PIFD), as well a board member of the Karachi Arts Council, and the Pakistan National Council of the Arts (PNCA), Islamabad. The sought-after designer, holds several fashion awards and accolades abroad and locally, including 7 Lux Style Awards, 2 MTV Guru Awards, a stellar standing ovation at the Milan Fashion Week, being quoted as the Pride of Pakistan by The Times of India, and also has been the chairman of Fashion Pakistan Council. Deepak Perwani has served as Pakistan’s cultural ambassador to China and Malaysia, his work ranges from fashion design to costume designing for movies like: Baji, Punjab Nahi Jaungi, Raat Chali Hai Jhoom Ke, Khulay Aasman Ke Neechay, and Jawani Phir Nahi Aani 1. He has designed costumes for over 200 videos in his career, including: Khamaj by Fuzon, Na Re Na by Ali Azmat, Channo and Rangeen by Ali Zafar, and Mr Fraudiye by Haroon and Faakhir of Awaz, to name a few.
The internationally recognised designer Mr Perwani has been awarded the 6th Most Innovative Design House in the world at the Camera Moda Council Award in the National History Museum of Bulgaria. Furthermore, Deepak Perwani has also received the Best International Designer awards at the Miami Fashion Week, the Malaysian Fashion Week, and the Colombo Fashion Week. The legendary designer Deepak Perwani has also designed uniforms for the Beaconhouse School System, the Ambiance Hotel & Resorts, the Marriott Karachi, and for the Carlton Hotel.
