Every opportunity we get to celebrate Pakistan and all that’s Pakistani is a precious commodity and moment, and one that should be cherished given the present circumstances that we live in as a nation.

As a result, the well-attended celebration of Pakistan’s 77th Independence Day was observed at the Crystal Ballroom in Marriott Hotel on the eve of Pakistan’s Independence Day by the Diplomatic Business Club (DBC), and marked by grand festivities including an awards distribution ceremony to outstanding individuals from the widespread social strata, a cultural fashion presentation inspired by Pakistan’s national leaders and heroes, and theme colours of green-and-white by menswear designer, Zubair Shah, and women’s wear designer, Seema Shah, followed by a grand dinner featuring the choicest of Pakistani cuisine.

M. Umar Shah, DBC Chairman welcomed foreign diplomats, honourary Consuls-General and esteemed guests belonging to the business community, and a smattering of showbiz celebrities such as international fitness judge and fashion supermodel Aasif Rehman, who were present at the occasion with other distinguished attendees.

The itinerary for the evening included a runway walk by foreign diplomats and Honourary Consuls-General in outfits provided by the retail brand, Diner’s Garments. Consuls-General and diplomats from Malaysia, Korea, Japan, Russia, alongside Honourary Consuls-General from Morocco, Philippines, Romania and Malawi walked down the runway.

The awards’ distribution ceremony was followed by the grand finale presentation by established menswear designer Zubair Shah who also received the Best Menswear Designer award that night, and emerging women’s wear designer Seema Shah who showcased outfits inspired by the sartorial choices and dress codes of Pakistan’s national leaders and heroes, such as Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Madr-e-Millat Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Liaquat Ali han and Begum R’ana Liaquat Ali Khan, and other esteemed individuals.

After the fashion presentation, the doors of the dining area were flung open to a sumptuous buffet dinner featuring the choicest of Pakistani cuisine, and fostering camaraderie and networking among the guests.
