US TALK
With his classic grace, flawless features, perfect height, and a thousand-watt smile, raging sensation Munsif Ali Khan is simply unstoppable.
Although he declares cricket as his first love, he also divulges that becoming a model was on his cards too. After graduation, one of his friends, who was studying photography, convinced him to take modelling seriously. While doing a shoot at a studio, his friend randomly took a few photographs of Munsif and later sent them to a private channel which required seven male models for a segment. His breakthrough moment came when Munsif emerged as the first model they selected from a huge list of contestants. That’s how Munsif forayed into the professional fashion scene. Soon he was doing shoots for ace photographers, like Azeem Sani and many others.
He ventured into mainstream fashion weeks with PFDC 2017 and also joined Citrus Talent for television commercials. In a short span of time, he endorsed several major brands, like J., Cambridge, Ideas, and Republic, besides doing shoots for an array of top designers, like Nomi Ansari, Jazib Qamar, and Ismail Farid. Munsif, who has a masters in mass communication from the Punjab University, has also been part of international fashion campaigns held in Azerbaijan and Thailand, and has been nominated for several awards, including Lux Rising Star (2019), Hum Best Male Model of the Year (2020), and Lux Best Male Model of the Year (2021).
Us: What does success mean to you?
Munsif Ali Khan: For me, success means the inner satisfaction and peace of mind that a person enjoys in life.
Us: What is something you learned in your career which helped you become a better model?
MAK: Knowing the fact that fortune favours the bold, I have tried not to be choosy in my career. Whenever I was offered to do some project, I made sure to invest my hundred percent. Many times, with my extra effort, the project surpassed expectations.
Us: What is the most challenging thing about this career?
MAK: Staying fit, following a fitness regimen, and maintaining positivity.
Us: How did you carve your niche in the fashion industry?
MAK: When I entered the industry, I observed Shahzad Noor doing great work, which inspired me to pursue my career on a solid foundation by maintaining quality standards and investing my full potential.
Us: Do you believe good looks and connections are the only things that make a star?
MAK: It would be an understatement to say that these two factors do not have a significant role in the equation. But they only help you to get your first breakthrough without much effort. However, later they refuse to become a pillar of your strength if you don’t have talent.
Us: Who are some of your role models and what do you like about their work?
MAK: Internationally, David Gandy has always been a source of immense motivation for me. His journey shows us how we branch out and diversify our range with panache and elan. From a fitness model to a male fashion icon to a business entrepreneur, he successfully carved his own identity and made a name for himself globally.
Us: How do you deal with self-doubt?
MAK: I believe that self-doubt plays a positive role. When you doubt your abilities, you work hard to overcome the shortcomings, if any; as a result, the outcome is more refined and more likely to be noticed.
Us: How has social media changed things for you?
MAK: Social media is a reality and denying its powerful impact would be ignorance. It has facilitated the connection between an artist and his ardent fans; besides, potential clients can directly reach us without any coordinators, making the process [easy] and considerably quick.
Us: Can you please share three pieces of advice for young models?
MAK: Be consistent, patient. Remain fit as a fiddle. And give your hundred percent to your work.

The worst thing about being a teenager was
I received massive punishments from my dad for squandering a large chunk of time on cricket and doing one-wheeling on bicycle. I had to bear strict curfew that my dad used to impose by ceasing my movement outside house after 8 pm; what was more painful for me was to see my friends not getting such lockdowns from their parents, lol.
