There is no denying the ever-growing importance of NGOs. Understanding the critical role that volunteers play in the world of non-governmental organisations (NGOs), it is clear that a thorough recognition and appreciation strategy is not only necessary to sustain volunteers’ commitment to proposal development initiatives but also to unlock their power. Many non-governmental organisations rely heavily on their volunteer workforce, and acknowledging their unselfish commitment and efforts is essential to building an environment of appreciation and support inside the organisation.

In order to emphasise the distinctive contributions and influence of every volunteer, personalised appreciation is essential. In addition to validating their individual efforts, recognising their specific contributions through initiatives like the Karachi Awards which highlight the importance of their position in furthering the organisation’s objective. The recently held ceremony celebrated the third edition of KE’s KHI Awards, acknowledging 44 winners across 14 diverse categories. From Safety, Livelihoods & Vocational Training to Digital Accessibility and Inclusion, these organisations showcased unwavering dedication in supporting Karachi and its people, setting an inspiring example for others.

The initiative was conceived as a platform to bring equity and support for those institutions who are at the forefront of driving societal change. Many of these organisations experienced a contraction in their inflows, as Pakistan faced consecutive crises from COVID-19 to floods, and volatile economic circumstances. Since its inception in 2021, the platform has supported 70 social organisations who have further benefitted an estimated 18 million lives. The third edition also received a resounding response to call for applications, testifying to its credibility.
