Summer is finally here and we are thrilled because that means it’s also officially picnic season. With Father’s Day right around the corner, what better way to show Dad just how much he means to you than by surprising him with a carefully curated picnic. Dads are always going above and beyond and this is your chance to channel your inner hostess and do the same. International Picnic Day, celebrated on 18th June, is falling close to Father’s Day. And what other great way to spend quality time with people you love than a picnic. So, plan a fun Father’s Day picnic and celebrate International Picnic Day by getting outside and enjoying nature! It’s an opportunity for you to take a break from your daily routine and enjoy some time in the great outdoors. You’ll be able to share food, laugh together, and play games - all while appreciating each other’s company.

A picture-perfect picnic is something the whole family can enjoy. After all, spending time with your kids is what every dad truly wants on Father’s Day, and this is the perfect way to do so without the rest of life’s distractions getting in the way. Fill up that cooler, grab a picnic mat, and go out to a local park or beach to have a beautiful day in the sun celebrating the special Dad in your life. Below are some important aspects you need to consider to plan the perfect picnic…

The Location

When planning your Father’s Day picnic, be sure to look out for the perfect location. Really, anywhere you can comfortably lay your blanket or sheets will do. However, we must admit that we are partial towards a beachy scene when possible. Or you can turn to the classic option of a nearby park. It’s all about working with what you got. You could also visit the waterpark for a fun day or rent out a farmhouse for a more private and relaxed picnic party.

If you don’t have a local park, don’t let this deter you. You can consider redecorating your very own backyard or terrace for the occasion! Set out blankets and the like, hang up streamers, and treat your lawn as your very own personal park. You could even hang up a large white sheet and project a movie on it as night time falls. That would be the perfect ending to a fun day.

The Food

Dads are usually pretty easy to please when it comes to food, but since this is a day dedicated to him, make sure you prepare all of his favourites at least the ones that can be easily transported to the picnic location. Don’t forget the drinks!

A barbecue grill filled with a variety of meats and veggies, in front of a family picnic is another choice. To make everything even easier, you can have food delivered right to your picnic location park; after all, it’s truly the thought that counts. Dad will enjoy munching on a meal that his family worked together to create, or, at least, plan.

The Entertainment

The unsung star of a great picnic is always the entertainment. You can claim the food makes or breaks an outdoor afternoon, but we think it’s up to the activities. Not only will these lawn games keep all picnic attendees engaged, but also these games can double as a bonus to gift dad. Take along some fun entertainment sources for your hours spent lounging in the sun.

Since you’ll be outdoors, take a look at some fun backyard games you can take along with you. You can go with badminton, Frisbees, soccer, or volleyball. Other ideas could be board games like Ludo, monopoly or scrabble.
