you & me
Based in Karachi, Eva B is the first veiled woman rapper in Pakistan. Coming from a Baloch family, she is known for her song ‘Apna Time Ayega’ from the Bollywood film ‘Gully Boy’. According to Eva, she has always been interested in becoming a rapper. “I was heavily inspired by Eminem. Due to family pressures it was difficult for me to pursue my career, however, I was allowed to sing under the condition that I would keep my face veiled,” tells Eva B. Coming from a conservative background and being raised in Lyari, a neighbourhood of Karachi that is gaining reputation for the rise of hip hop, producing iron chin boxers, and top footballers lately, Eva has set a great example for the young generation, especially women, that nothing can stop you if you have the resilience, hard work, and persistence to achieve what you want.
Her major breakthrough came when she was contacted by Zulfiqar Jabbar Khan, director of Coke Studio 14, in which she sang the song ‘Kana Yaari’. Her song ‘Rozi’ was featured in the closing credits of episode 1 of ‘Ms. Marvel’. Recently, Eva B has become the latest face to feature on Spotify's digital billboard at Times Square NYC, as EQUAL Pakistan’s Ambassador.
