The rainbow vibes

COVER STORY

In 2022, fashion is all about merging our desire to stay super comfy with our love for showy and bold outfits. From flaunting cargo pants to glitzy tops, slipper loafers to sky-high heels, linen jumpsuits to faux leather pants, young people are doing a remarkable job at keeping up with fashion trends this year. We all enjoy watching #OOTD videos on Instagram, don’t we? We can’t stop appreciating how creatively fashion enthusiasts make dressing up so much fun in the post-covid era. Here is a list of trends we have loved so far …

The rainbow wardrobe

While picking out an outfit for the day, remember colour is everything. Nailing the perfect hue can completely change the vibes of a T-shirt-denim combo, a beautiful dress or any other look you want to create. Glam up your look with royal purple, jewel-tone teal, burning red and fierce orange!

Sweats 2.0

If it’s comfy, it is fashionable! Whether an oversize, fleece-lined jogger is your thing or you’re more the elevated soft-pants type preferring knitted flares and flowy culottes, leisurely bottoms have been 2022 constant, mostly thanks to the continuation of hybrid work setups.

Denim jeans with waistband

Denim jeans with the comfort and stretchable waist of joggers is what this fashion trend is - the best of both worlds. A great choice for streetwear and you don’t have to worry about the discomfort of denim jeans.

The love for volume

From oversize shirting to ballooned silhouettes and a continuation of the puff sleeve trend, dresses and tops have retained their volume this year as well.

Dresses with multiple layers, feathering hemlines, poofs, ruffles and pleats galore made a huge impact. High volume doesn’t stop at shirt sleeves this time around. Statement sleeves are indeed a part of voluminous silhouettes, but this trend has all elements, including fabrics, embellishments and sewing techniques that create a voluminous result.

The rainbow vibes

Platform shoes

Want to experience something uplifting? Give your micro-heels a break and try out some platforms. Platforms are footwear with dense soles.

From sky-high heels to flatforms, loafers, ankle-strap heels, boots and even clogs, you have a huge range of platform shoes to choose from.

The colour purple

Purple is the colour for Fall 2022. You can choose the calming Very Peri or the saturated tones with a regal air. Fashion articles tinged with purple are everywhere, so it is the right time to dig in your closet for purple clothes.

We also can’t forget to mention how versatile purple can be, especially if you’re a fan of colour-blocking. Aside from pairing it with pink, blue, yellow, and even orange, adding green to the mix will create an eye-catching combo that’s currently popular among street-style fashion lovers.

Psychedelic prints

Infuse your style with groovy prints and trippy patterns. You can maybe ditch your florals for a while and add a neon striped skirt or a checkerboard graphic tee to freshen up your wardrobe.

Bright bags

Your handbag doesn’t need to come in only black, brown or tan. Embrace the rainbow. Orange, pink, yellow, green and bright blue are just a few ways to embrace the rainbow-bright bag trend. If not a single colour to accent an outfit, go for a two-tone design or one swirling in several shades.

Mod print

From A-line skirts to dizzying motifs, designers nodded to the 60s on the runways while adding a dash of Y2K nostalgia to the pot. So, embrace your inner print mixer by combining bold with bolder.

The rainbow vibes

Chain belts

If you love belts, then get yourself a chain belt. It is a staple accessory for accentuating all your simple-looking dresses.

Oversized shirts

A new silhouette seems to have emerged, and it’s as light and carefree as we want it to be. The equation: a flowing oversized button-down, paired with flowing oversized trousers, buttoned in the middle.

Tie-Dye tee

Tie-Dye at first looks like another latest weird summer fashion trend but, when you try it, these tees look super cool and fun to wear. A t-shirt with vivid neon green colour would be a wonderful addition to your wardrobe, perfect for parties, brunch or any casual outings with friends.

Clogs

Clogs have been around since they originated in wooden form in the early 13th century Netherlands. It’s hard to believe that after 700 years, clogs still manage to go in and out of style. Though they have always been practical gardening shoes, clogs are now considered just as fashion-forward as they are comfortable, with the fashion world revamping them in a thousand different ways.

Super baggy jeans

Salute to the style evolution from skinny jeans to baggy jeans that is happening right now. Baggy jeans are very flattering and you have many pairing options like sneakers, sandals or heels.

Mirrored glasses

This trend is an absolute winner this year. Mirrored sunglasses have a reflective optical coating - called a mirror coating or flash coating - on the outside of the lenses to make them appear like small mirrors. The mirrors are available in a number of colours, but red, blue, green or grey are popular choices. Get a pair of these shades to elevate your look on a hot, sunny day.

The rainbow vibes

Colorful flats

Ballet flats now come in a variety of textiles and patterns to uplift any outfit. While the silhouette can lend itself to more conservative vibes, the introduction of bold and colourful selections offer a fun, youthful flair.

Geometric shades

If micro-shades aren’t big enough to shield your eyes from the sun during a beach outing, then you should go for oversized sunnies. Hexagon and octagon shades aren’t just useful to keep the sun’s rays out of your eyes; they are actually cute. While it may seem that shapes of all sunglasses are the same at the core, geometric sunnies are the new way to up your accessories game. If you’re trying to be that girl, look no further.

Trucker hats

Oh, the trucker hat, one of the most legendary Y2K accessories! The nostalgic hat is in the beginning stages of a massive comeback.

Enjoy the trendy but comfy fashion trends for the remainder of the year!
