In response to Laraib Maryam’s letter
Assalam-o-Alaikum Editor,
I am writing to you after a long time. During my MPhil Studies, I could not skim through it on regular basis as I always had since years. But that does not mean I had lost all my affiliation with this youth companion of mine. This magazine is always meant to be read with full enthusiasm as it’s a door leading directly to who our youth is. Anyhow, I do find it online and read it but this time sadly I missed one issue of November 20, 2016, where my name was specially mentioned by Laraib Maryam. She liked a piece of poetry I wrote, “To find him in the mist”, which was published in the issue of October 16, 2015. She also expressed her eagerness to read more of my writing pieces and so I felt I should personally respond.
I am writing this letter for two reasons. First, l wanted to apologise as I read her letter too late. Secondly, I wanted to thank her for so much appreciation/acknowledgement that obviously made my day. We contribute and write for you guys and your love is all that matters to us in return. You may forward my e-mail address to her: fizaziaulhannan@gmail.com OR my Facebook personal ID with my name: Fiza Zia ul Hannan (www.facebook.com/fizamanobili), from where she will have access to whatever I write as my blogs are regularly published there.
Lastly, on behalf of all Us contributors, I would personally like to thank Us magazine for bridging up this gap between us and our sense of achievement in providing a platform to excel in our writing talent.

Request
Dear Editor,
I am a computer geek and love technology. I have noticed that articles about technology are not printed very often. Game reviews are fine, but that is not technology. Study and Research is also not a regular section in the mag. I’m sure other nerds like me also want to read articles on latest technological advances and exciting new gadget. Please make TechTalk a regular section of Us.

Hello Eddie,
You guys asked about increasing the size of the mag. I think this magazine is for the youth. And its teeny tiny size suits it as well. Others like Instep and Money Matters are bigger because they are for people of a particular age and class. I like the mag as it is. It is different from others. Keep up the good work!!!

Heya Ed,
Please, do not change Us. I like the way it is right now.

Hi Ed,
I think you should increase the size. If possible, increase the number of pages, too. This would make the mag look more attractive. I know most people would tell you to stick to the present size, but they want that because they don’t want ‘change’, even if it’s for the better.

Dear Ed,
You must realize that the mag is not appreciated for its beautiful looks. It has always been the content readers admire. So do what you want, but don’t compromise on the content.

Reflection
Narrated by Jabir bin Abdullah (R.A)
Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) said, “I have been given five things which were not given to any amongst the Prophets before me. These are: 1. Allah made me victorious by awe (by His frightening my enemies) for a distance of one month’s journey. 2. The earth has been made for me (and for my followers) a place for praying and a thing to perform Tayammum. Therefore, my followers can pray wherever the time of a prayer is due. 3. The booty has been made Halal (lawful) for me (and was not made so for anyone else). 4. Every Prophet used to be sent to his nation exclusively but I have been sent to all mankind. 5. I have been given the right of intercession (on the Day of Resurrection.)”
