Hello Editor,
In the issue of April 10, I liked ‘Wish you were there’ by Safa Fatima. It was lightly written, but shows how life makes us so busy that we don’t have time for the people who are most important people to us – our parents. I am the youngest among my siblings and I know my married sisters yearn to come and visit my parents, but something or the other comes up and they tell us they will come next year! ‘Digital Baithak: COVID 19 and persons with disabilities’ by SZ was a thoughtful and useful write-up. We tend to forget that persons with disabilities need extra care. Almost all of us have old grandparents, and all people also need extra care in these times. I think the point about giving relevant information to persons with disabilities and old people is very valid. At the same time, I have noticed that my grandparents tend to disregard most of what they hear about preventive measures, and they just tell us to have faith in Allah! What to tell them?

Tell them, respectfully, of course, that our prophet (S.A.W) told us to take steps to secure our property and then leave things to Allah!
Hey Ed,
Let me tell you honestly that nowadays, I only like to read light stuff, as there is a lot of grim stuff going on around me and everyone else. So, while we are fighting the virus and staying at home, how about making ‘Comic Relief’ a two-pager? You can go back to one page after things return to normalcy. More comic strips would be welcome, you know!

Narrated by Talha bin Ubaid-Ullah (R.A):
A Bedouin with unkempt hair came to Allah’s Apostle (S.A.W) and said, “O Allah’s Apostle! Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards the prayers.” He replied: “You have to offer perfectly the five compulsory prayers in a day and night (24 hours), unless you want to pray Nawafil.” The Bedouin further asked, “Inform me what Allah has made compulsory for me as regards fasting.” He replied, “You have to fast during the whole month of Ramadan, unless you want to fast more as Nawafil.” The Bedouin further asked, “Tell me how much Zakat Allah has enjoined on me.” Thus, Allah’s Apostle informed him about all the rules (i.e. fundamentals) of Islam. The Bedouin then said, “By Him Who has honoured you, I will neither perform any Nawafil nor will I decrease what Allah has enjoined on me. Allah’s Apostle said, “If he is saying the truth, he will succeed (or he will be granted Paradise).”
