What a treat to find a movie cover on Eid (June 15)! Since I am an introvert and a super lazy person, I spend my Eid catching up on the movies I haven’t watched due to my tough working schedule and also watch the new ones.

Avengers: The Infinity wars, The Incredibles 2 and Deadpool 2 were beyond awesome!

A common concept I have across is that it is all right if bad smell comes from the mouth of someone who is fasting, and in this context Dr Mahparah Mumtaz’s article was illuminating. Our Holy Prophet (S.A.W) used miswak frequently, and also used it while fasting. This means that we should not roza be our excuse for bad mouth odour.

I had been waiting for the cover story on summer movies, and the wait was worth it.

And, since Eid is strictly for meeting and greeting family and friends, I have saved this week’s edition (June 15) and plan to ‘chill’ when I have more time.

In the previous week’s issue (June 8) Sundus Riaz Abbasi’s article was thought provoking. Plastic pollution is a serious issue and unfortunately most of our countrymen don’t realise the seriousness of this the threat. I think awareness articles on water conservation should also be published from time to time to encourage our young people to not waste water.

Narrated by Abu Musa

The Prophet (S.A.W) said, “The example of guidance and knowledge with which Allah has sent me is like abundant rain falling on the earth, some of which was fertile soil that absorbed rain water and brought forth vegetation and grass in abundance. (And) another portion of it was hard and held the rain water and Allah benefited the people with it and they utilized it for drinking, making their animals drink from it and for irrigation of the land for cultivation. (And) a portion of it was barren which could neither hold the water nor bring forth vegetation (then that land gave no benefits). The first is the example of the person who comprehends Allah’s religion and gets benefit (from the knowledge) which Allah has revealed through me (the Prophets and learns and then teaches others. The last example is that of a person who does not care for it and does not take Allah’s guidance revealed through me (He is like that barren land.)”
