Graduated from University of Virginia with a Bachelor of Arts degree in drama in 1992.
Started performing with The Second City, which led to a chance to submit scripts to Saturday Night Live. Joined SNL (1997 - 2006) as a writer, and ultimately became the show’s first female head writer.
Went on to create the acclaimed sitcom 30 Rock (2006 - 2013) as well as the comedy series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt (2015 - present).
Has also starred in films including Baby Mama (2008), Date Night (2010), Muppets Most Wanted (2014), Sisters (2015), and Whiskey Tango Foxtrot (2016).
Published her autobiography,Bossypants, in 2011.
Upcoming projects include a part in Amy Poehler’s upcoming film Wine Country (2019).
