Is the youngest of six children.
Graduated from Georgetown University in 1988 with a degree in finance.
Worked in advertising before pursuing a career in comedy and performing stand-up at comedy clubs.
Subsequently appeared in several commercials.
Has since starred in sitcoms including Welcome to New York (2000 - 2001), The Ellen Show (2001 - 2002), My Boys (2006 - 2009), and The Jim Gaffigan Show (2015 - 2016).
Has also released several comedy albums, and written two books: Dad Is Fat (2013) and Food: A Love Story (2014).
