POETS’ CORNER

Poems forever

Acquainted with the night

By Robert Frost

I have been one acquainted with the night.

I have walked out in rain - and back in rain.

I have outwalked the furthest city light.

I have looked down the saddest city lane.

I have passed by the watchman on his beat

And dropped my eyes, unwilling to explain.

I have stood still and stopped the sound of feet

When far away an interrupted cry

Came over houses from another street,

But not to call me back or say good-bye;

And further still at an unearthly height,

One luminary clock against the sky

Proclaimed the time was neither wrong nor right.

I have been one acquainted with the night.

Time marches on

By Zoya Adil

The echo of childhood laughter fades

As responsibilities start to weigh

We chase the memories of the past

Trying to hold on, but they won’t last

We grow up, but lose our way

In the maze of life, we are forced to stay

The toys we once played with

Are now lost, in memories that have strayed

Life is not easy as it seems now

And we are searching for a way to break this pain somehow

The hidden sweet delights

Now chase us every night

Nothing is what it was before

We are nothing but a grey ore

Emotions are a big mess

I know I’m not the only one to confess

Space

By Esha Bakht

Where the stars align.

Where the light declines to shine.

Where meteors burn and blast.

Where humans cannot last.

Where planets rotate.

Where the time dilates.

Yes, you have guessed it right.

It's the spaceflight.

A tender relationship among us

By Abid Agha

Do you recall?

We used to say it often to each other,

In the long journey of life,

If we part ways, it would kill us.

But now, when I look back,

After the passage of so much time,

A wave of pain and grief

Surrounds me completely.

As time has proved,

We were both wrong.

You are alive, as am I,

But something could not survive

A tender relationship among us,

Like a broken piece of crystal.

It hurts

By Memoona Mukhtar

I know it hurts,

When dreams shatter,

When wishes remain unfulfilled,

When nobody is there to stand for you,

Never forget the truth,

That the creator of the universe is with you,

Which keeps you moving on,

Through all the hurdles in your way,

He is with you wherever you are,

Never ever forget,

When there's nobody,

Allah is with you

Pinkish sleep

By Anas A. Khan

Where does this way lead me?

If I knew, that would defeat me.

My life saw serenity and amity;

One would think it was meant for me.

Not all lives are the same,

Neither are you and I.

Many could be happy and placid,

But it is not a matter of shame.

Walking away from pain is good,

But not a remedy as it should be.

I wonder why I am here,

As rain pours where I stood.

Mellowness can be quiet,

But it is a means of blight.

Roaming in peace, but why?

What is the need for a fight?

Siesta ends with slumber,

The ocean waits for the Humber,

And the nation must wake up now,

As demise announces the cumber.
