Feedback

Dear Ed,

I'm glad to see Ramazan-related stories being published in the magazine. The article “Eating Healthy During Ramazan” in the March 7 issue was a particularly useful read. Like most people, I was already familiar with the information shared, but sometimes, seeing it in print and reading it repeatedly helps reinforce its importance. Reiterating such valuable content is a great way to remind people that Ramazan is not just about binge eating at suhoor and iftar, but also about maintaining a balanced and mindful approach to food.

Hello Editor,

The cover story in this week’s issue (March 7), ‘Impact of untreated stress and depression in Pakistan’ by Summaya Phulpoto, was spot on. Unfortunately, mental health is not taken seriously in Pakistan. As a school teacher with over 30 years of experience, I have personally witnessed how casually both parents and teachers approach this issue.

Many bright students fall into depression simply because they fail to secure the top position in class. Parents unknowingly burden their children with immense pressure, not realizing the distress they are causing. I strongly believe that teachers should be trained to identify students struggling with stress and depression. In fact, such training should be made mandatory.

Keep up the good work, Us!

The urgent need to save Pasni’s primary school

Dear Editor,

Khudadad Mullha Primary School in Pasni, a vital institution for hundreds of students, is in disarray due to the neglect of the local government in Gwadar. Inadequate infrastructure and resources severely hinder learning, with insufficient classrooms and dilapidated facilities.

There is severe shortage of qualified teachers. This neglect raises serious concerns about students’ right to education and a safe environment. The local community, disheartened by this crisis, has witnessed firsthand the damage caused by inadequate governmental support, leading to frustration and helplessness.

Immediate action is needed. First, improving infrastructure and resources is essential. Second, recruiting and training teachers will ensure proper guidance. Lastly, the local government must show genuine commitment to improving education in Pasni. It is crucial to address these issues secure a better future for our children.
