Feedback
Dear Editor,
I am a fan of Amna Ameer, whether it’s her poetic articles or poems. I read Oh little one: A Letter to My Younger Self in the November 29 issue and loved it. In fact, I saved the magazine because I may want to revisit the article after some time. I wanted to praise this article earlier, but, in my defense, I was busy with projects and assignments. My teachers kept me occupied with deadlines, so I couldn’t do it sooner.
Amna is a wonderful poet, and her prose is equally impressive. I am glad she is a part of Us. In the same issue, the cover story was about the life of medical students (Med school chronicles by Maira Murtaza). While I have no issue with them, I don’t understand why only medical students write about their student lives.
Tweets in the section ‘Comic Relief’ were really hilarious, and I always enjoy them first thing every Friday. I enjoy comic strips, too, but feel that the paper quality does not do justice to them.

Karachi’s environment: a matter of serious concern
Dear Editor,
Karachi, one of Pakistan’s largest cities, is grappling with alarming levels of pollution. Day by day, the city’s environment worsens, posing a serious threat to the health and well-being of its residents. Pollution in all its forms has become a major concern, impacting the quality of life and causing irreversible damage.
The consequences are severe: cancer, lung diseases, and other health issues are affecting the population. Factories and thermal power stations release hazardous gases and thick smoke, while water pollution, worsened by inadequate sewage systems, leads to diseases like hepatitis, diarrhea, and skin conditions. Poor communities are hit hardest, with limited access to healthcare and clean resources.
I urge the relevant authorities and the Government of Pakistan to take immediate action to address this critical issue. This includes implementing efficient waste management systems, enforcing stricter regulations on industrial emissions, improving water treatment infrastructure, and ensuring accessible healthcare services.
The people of Karachi deserve a healthy and sustainable environment. I hope swift measures will be taken to mitigate this crisis and secure a better future for the city’s residents.
Tanghai Azeem, Dasht
