Dear Ed,
In the issue of 22 November, the cover story Love your locks by Sameen Amer was really informative. Ayesha’s advice on avoiding harsh treatments is spot-on; dyeing hair in all sorts of funky colours is no doubt a fad that looks fabulous but in the long run it damages hair almost irrevocably and same is true for treatments like re-bonding. I should know, as I tried my hand at all these things and my hair health has suffered a lot. I used to have thick curly hair, and wanted straight hair. In hindsight, I rather have curly hair than weak and light hair.

Dear Editor,
I love birds, and in today’s Us (22 November) I loved the quiz Amazing avians. The section ‘Poets’ Corner’, I loved the poem ‘Siren song’ by Margaret Atwood’, and the rest of the poems were also good.

Cheating in exams: a serious issue
Dear Editor,
Cheating undermines hard work and merit, discouraging diligent students and giving unfair advantages to those who cheat. It compromises the education system, which is meant to nurture young minds, and erodes trust in the annual examination system designed to assess students' knowledge.
Addressing this issue requires urgent action. The government, educators, and society must collaborate to implement strict anti-cheating policies, enhance examination security, and foster a culture of academic integrity. Encouraging hard work and merit-based achievement is essential to restore faith in the education system.
Failure to tackle this problem will have long-term consequences for our youth and the nation. The future depends on the value we place on honest education. We must act collectively to uphold the integrity of our education system and prepare students with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed.
Eradicating cheating is a shared responsibility. By taking decisive steps, we can secure a brighter future for Pakistan’s youth, promoting a culture of honesty, hard work, and excellence.
