Dear Editor,
In the issue of 19 July, Creating virtual space for hate by Lubna Jerar Naqvi caught my attention. I strongly agree with the article’s point that Pakistan has a Tate problem of its own, and I appreciate the comparison between Andrew Tate and similar figures in Pakistan. However, it is very disturbing to see how discussions about women dominate some Pakistani men’s conversations, reflecting an obsession with women rather than genuine discourse.
When the TV writer first spread misogynistic hate, it should have been addressed immediately. Instead, social media increased his influence and allowed his hateful views to persist and even grow. I believe that anyone spreading toxic content should be stopped immediately, but unfortunately, it’s the audience that gives such people attention.
I felt that this article could have talked more about how social media can fix these problems. For example, platforms can implement stricter rules against mean comments and bullying, provide users with better ways to report inappropriate content, and work harder to delete harmful posts quickly. If the article focused more on offering real solutions and less on repeating the issues, it could help more and provide clear ideas on how to make social media safer.

Hello Ed,
It is commendable that Us showcases the talent of Pakistan’s young celebs. I enjoyed reading the interview of Sikander Khan (2 August issue), as I am into Pakistani entertainment industry, but I have just one question: why do you only interview celebs from entertainment industry? You need to focus on students who do extraordinarily well, young writers and emerging sportspersons as well. I hope to see a more balanced approach in the ‘Us Talk’ section.

Hi Editor,
I love reading poems in ‘Poets’ Corner’. In the last issue of Us, I particularly liked The lax panorama by Maryum Tayyab (26 July issue). However, I feel ‘Poets’ Corner’ remains incomplete without Amna Ameer’s poems. Her poem Masquerade (19 July issue) was superb. She has serious talent and I hope one day she publishes her anthology. In the ‘Comic Relief’ section, I really like the segment ‘Points to ponder’.
