Participated in wrestling and short put in high school.
Dropped out of community college halfway through the first semester.
Ended up homeless, sleeping in a van and tent.
Was discovered waiting tables at age 19 by actresses Rae Dawn Chong who cast him in her directorial debut, the short horror film Cursed Part 3 (2000).
Got regular roles on the television series Everwood (2002 – 2006) and The O.C. (2006 – 2007) before getting his breakthrough in the sitcom Parks and Recreation (2009 – 2015).
Gained global recognition after being cast as Star-Lord in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (2014 – present).
Has also starred in the Jurassic World trilogy (2015 – 2022) and The Lego Movie franchise (2014 – 2019) as well as films including The Magnificent Seven (2016), Passengers (2016), Onward (2020), The Tomorrow War (2021), The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023), and The Garfield Movie (2024).
