POETS FOREVER
During his summer with the Shelleys at Lake Geneva in 1816, Byron suggested the group spend a rainy afternoon writing ghost stories. Mary Shelly wrote what became Frankenstein and Byron’s doctor William Polidori wrote The Vampyre, the story that inspired future interpretations from Dracula to Twilight. This vampire story was read all over Europe and based on a literary idea by Byron himself. Previously the vampires in European folklore were peasants and villager spectres. By contrast, Polidori’s vampire is rich, aristocratic and weighed down by ennui — much like Byron himself.

“In the realm of youth, I do reside,
A portal to uncertainty, I confide.
Faces familiar, yet unknown anew,
Desiring a cloak to hide my view.
Oh, the weariness of feigned delight,
Where hath my expectations taken flight?
They claim these years are golden and bright,
Yet all I yearn for is to vanish from sight.
I sense their apathy, dost thou not see?
Judged by their perception of me.
For speaking my mind, they do disapprove,
Unaware of the nights I silently move.”
Pray, dost thou findeth this rendition pleasing to thine ears?

Those who are alive
Must live
But what does it mean
To breathe
While all the while feeling
Death is approaching
With silent footsteps
The sighs and screams
Are all hidden
Under the facade
Of empty tea cups
And dirty laundry
The chores pile up
Like seconds passing
Till the time capsule is empty
The alive must let life
Pass them by
If they want
To make it out dead

Answer is not possible in an attempt by one brain
While trying again and again
Lying in bed with illusions in head.
Cluttered with thousands of other things
Please, my God! Give me wings and a wand to fix things
Formulation of formulas in my mind
Don’t let me stand in a line
Multiplying two with zero gives me two
I just need a simple clue
The major problem is calculation
But what to do of multiplication
Making some of the multiple triangles
But don’t know of any angles
Using mnemonics to make some rules
Sometimes formulas make me fool
The journey will go on and on
With Maths, there is no rest
